This shows that Torvald dehumanizes her and thinks lowly of his wife and women in general. This shows the condition of a marriage, where a wife and her husband are not seen to be on equal terms but rather, the man asserts his power over the wife and has a higher degree of authority and power within the marriage. This shows the status of a man and woman, in a marriage setting.

2. Kristine was in a loveless marriage; she didn’t even love her husband and only desired his money.
