When they later came to him seeking help during a famine, Yusuf chose not to retaliate or hold a grudge. Instead, he welcomed them, provided them with food, and reassured them. This act of kindness, despite their past actions, highlights his deep compassion and strength of character. Yusuf’s willingness to help those who wronged him shows the true essence of ihsan, which is doing good for others with a pure heart and the desire to please Allah. His story reminds us that true greatness lies in our ability to rise above hurt and extend our hands in kindness, regardless of the circumstances.

Today, I Learned the Tafsir of Surah Adh-Dhariyat (51:56-57)

“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me.”

From this verse, I learned that our main purpose in life is to worship Allah (ibadah). Worship is not just about prayer and fasting but also about obeying Him in everything we do. Allah does not need our worship. He is completely independent and self-sufficient. Instead, we are the ones who need Him for guidance, mercy, and success in both this world and the Hereafter.

The Purpose of Usrah

1. Taaruf (Getting to Know One Another)

Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13) states:

“ O mankind, indeed We have created you from a male and a female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Verily, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.”

From this, I learned that Allah created diversity so that we may learn from one another. In usrah, taaruf is essential for fostering brotherhood and understanding, forming the basis for meaningful discussions and personal development.

2. Tafahum (Mutual Understanding)

Beyond introduction, tafahum deepens the bond within an usrah. It involves listening, respecting differing views, and empathizing with one another. Through tafahum, we create a space where members feel safe to share, learn, and grow together.

3. Ta’awun (Cooperation) & Takafur (Empathy and Support)

Ta’awun (cooperation) is encouraged in Surah Al-Maidah (5:2):

“And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.”

This teaches me that usrah is not just about learning but also about working together to uphold Islamic values.

Takafur (empathy and support) reminds me that an usrah should be a support system where members help one another not just spiritually but also emotionally and socially.

today, i learned the tafsir of Surah Al-Isra (76-86)

The Prophet did not leave Makkah even though he was under a lot of stress. He waited until Allah gave him the command to do so.

Even though the Prophet had to plan strategies for dakwah (spreading Islam), Allah reminded him not to forget worship (ibadah) whether in times of sadness or happiness. No matter what we go through, we should never forget Allah.

The Role of Ibadah (Khidmah of Worship)

Every belief, thought, or action done sincerely for Allah is considered ibadah.

Specific acts of worship (ibadah khusus): Salah (prayer), zakat (charity), fasting, and Hajj.

General acts of worship (ibadah umum): Eating, drinking, sleeping, and studying, when done with the right intention, they become acts of worship too.

We live to worship Allah, as mentioned in Surah Adh-Dhariyat, “And I did not create jinn and mankind except to worship Me”

Islam is easy because even small deeds can be accepted by Allah! So, when people say worship is difficult, we can argue back. ibadah is vast and includes many simple actions.

The Role of Salah (Khidmah Solat)

Salah is the pillar of Islam. If we still engage in immoral or sinful acts despite praying, we should reflect on our salah and improve it.

Tomakninah (calmness and stillness) is a pillar of salah

it is not just about completing the motions quickly but performing it properly with focus and humility.

The things Allah forbids are actually for our own benefit. For example, same-gender relations are prohibited in Islam, and medically, they can lead to sexually transmitted diseases like AIDS, which can be fatal.

Salah also teaches cleanliness such as through wudu’ (ablution), which purifies us physically and spiritually.

The Role of Fasting (Khidmah Puasa)

Allah says fasting makes us more taqwa (God-conscious).

When taqwa increases, our urge to commit sins decreases.

Fasting trains us to control our desires by stopping us from doing things we usually do, it also prevents us from falling into sins we may have never committed before.

The Role of Zakat (Khidmah Zakat)

Purifies the heart and wealth, removing greed and selfishness.

Benefits others - helps the poor and supports the country’s economy.

Benefits us - teaches generosity and prevents us from becoming too attached to material wealth.

The Role of Hajj (Khidmah Haji)

Strengthens our taqwa and softens even the hardest of hearts.

Worldly status does not matter to Allah, what matters is taqwa. Hajj reminds us that everyone is equal in the sight of Allah.

The requirement of financial and physical ability in Hajj teaches us to be holistic individuals, not just chasing wealth, but also being spiritually and physically prepared.

Imagine a slave being forced to do something, all the benefits go to the master.

But when Allah asks us to do something, it is all for our own benefit.

If we truly understood the rewards of worship, we would even crawl just to perform ibadah.

Today i learned the Tafsir of Surah Al-Mu’minun (23:1-11) – Characteristics of Successful Believers

One of the key characteristics of a successful believer is performing five daily prayers with khusyuk (full concentration and humility) because:

1. It reminds us of Allah at all times.

2. It prevents us from engaging in immoral and sinful acts.

3. It is an obligatory act of worship that must be performed at its designated times.

4.Fulfilling trusts (amanah) – Being honest and responsible with what has been entrusted to us.

5. Keeping promises – Honoring commitments and staying truthful.

6. Preserving their prayers – Performing obligatory prayers on time and adding voluntary prayers (solat sunat) for extra devotion.

Another trait of a true believer is avoiding useless or meaningless activities. Things that do not benefit us in this world or the Hereafter.

Zakat (charity) purifies our wealth and improves the quality of our life, teaching us generosity and detachment from materialism.

A believer must also guard their chastity by controlling their desires. Islam allows intimacy only with lawful partners (spouses or, in the past, legal servants). Allah strongly condemns those who go beyond these limits, such as engaging in illicit relationships.

The Purpose of Salah

If we develop true khusyuk (humility and focus) in our prayers, our body and mind will be at peace. Even small distractions like itching or fidgeting will disappear. Khusyuk also makes us feel like Allah is evaluating us, making us more mindful in our worship.

We should practice khusyuk gradually, starting with solat sunat and applying it in our solat fardu over time.

Every time we pray, there will always be worldly matters that require our attention. This is exactly why salah exists to constantly remind us of Allah. Allah also wants to meet us five times a day, showing that He misses us. Khusyuk in salah reflects the strength of our relationship with Him.

Khusyuk must come from the heart. it requires a deep realization that we are servants created to serve and worship Allah.

Ways to Attain Khusyuk in Salah

1. Ensure mental and physical cleanliness (brush teeth, purify the heart from hatred).

2. Understand the meaning of the Quranic recitations in salah.

3. Pray in a quiet and clean place to avoid distractions.

4. Eliminate distractions before starting salah.

5. Imagine it as your last prayer and remember that Allah is watching you.

6. Focus on your movements and be mindful of each step in prayer.

7. Slow down and avoid rushing through salah.

8. Make du’a and ask Allah to grant khusyuk.

9. Pray on time. this helps develop a habit of mindfulness.

Effects of Khusyuk in Salah

• Improves discipline and mindfulness in daily life.

• Strengthens connection with Allah.

• Creates inner peace and tranquility.

• Reduces stress and anxiety.

Things That Reduce Khusyuk in Salah

• Syubhah (Doubt). Uncertainty in faith or actions.

• Syahwat (Desires). Excessive indulgence, such as oversleeping or laziness, can weaken focus in prayer.

By improving khusyuk, we can elevate the quality of our salah and, ultimately, our relationship with Allah.

Today i learned the Tafsir of Surah Luqman (31:12-19)

-Allah granted wisdom to Luqman, and in return, Luqman was grateful for the knowledge and understanding he received. This teaches us that wisdom is a gift from Allah, and we must use it wisely and with gratitude.

-Allah is One and has no partners. We are not allowed to associate anything or anyone with Him (shirk).

-Allah’s knowledge is so vast that even the smallest deed like a sin as tiny as a mustard seed or an atom, will not go unnoticed by Him.

-Luqman advised his son not to be arrogant, not to walk with pride, and to speak in a moderate tone. Islam teaches humility, balance, and good manners, as how we carry ourselves reflects our faith and character.

As humans, we have a responsibility as khalifah on Earth to:

• Encourage goodness (amar ma’ruf).

• Forbid wrongdoing (nahi munkar).

Islam Teaches Humility

• We are forbidden from being arrogant.

• We should not walk with pride or arrogance.

• Islam emphasizes moderation and humility (tawadu’).

• The way we carry ourselves including how we walk, it will reflects our character.

Outcomes of Having Khusyuk in Salah

- Allah will choose the best among those who pray – Just like we would select the best Umrah package, Allah grants the highest rewards to those who perfect their prayers.

- Khusyuk is a Sunnah practice – It is encouraged in every prayer, as it brings us closer to Allah.

5 Key Outcomes of Khusyuk in Salah

1. Taat (Obedience) – When we bow and prostrate in salah, we are demonstrating our submission to Allah. This helps us become more obedient in life—toward rules, leaders, and responsibilities.

2. Jihad (Struggle & Effort) – Khusyuk teaches us discipline and perseverance, as we must stay focused despite distractions. This reflects how we should struggle through life’s challenges while remaining steadfast.

3. Tawadu’ (Humility) – In salah, everyone is equal—whether a CEO or a cleaner, all bow to the same Lord. This eliminates arrogance and reminds us that we are all servants of Allah.

4.

Today, I learned about the virtues of worship and the importance of understanding them to enhance our devotion. Scholars emphasize that being aware of these virtues can motivate us to engage more sincerely in acts of worship. As humans are prone to forgetfulness, it’s beneficial to remind ourselves regularly of these merits.

Virtues of Fasting:

1. Fasting as a Shield: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Fasting is a shield from the Hellfire, just like a shield of yours in battle.”

2. Distance from Hellfire: He also stated, “Whoever fasts a day in the way of Allah, Allah will move his face away from the Hellfire by a distance of seventy years.”

3. Acceptance of Supplications: The Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned that the supplication of a fasting person is accepted, especially at the time of breaking the fast.

4. Entry through Ar-Rayyan: In Paradise, there is a gate called Ar-Rayyan through which only those who fast will enter. Once the last of them has entered, the gate will be closed.

What to Do While Fasting

1. Avoid Sins While Fasting

Sins such as fornication, lying, not lowering the gaze, and listening to distracting music should be avoided.

• Lying while fasting increases the severity of sin.

“Whoever does not give up false speech and evil deeds while fasting, then Allah has no need for him to abandon his food and drink.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, 1903)

• Those who do not control their speech and still commit sins while fasting will only gain hunger and thirst. their fasting will not be rewarded by Allah.

2. Guard the Tongue While Fasting

The tongue is one of the most important body parts to control during fasting. Speaking bad words, insulting others, or even spreading hate on social media carries the same negative consequences.

• “When one of you is fasting, he should avoid foul speech, arguing, and insulting others. If someone insults him or provokes a fight, let him say, ‘Indeed, I am fasting.’” (Hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari & Muslim)

• A fasting person should be patient when facing challenges. If insulted or provoked, they should respond by saying, “I am fasting.”

• To prevent actions that can ruin our fast, we should increase our remembrance of Allah, including istighfar (seeking forgiveness), dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and sending salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ (salawat).

Before Fasting:

• Intend to fast sincerely for the sake of Allah.

• Have suhoor (pre-dawn meal), as it is a blessed meal (Hadith).

• Mentally and spiritually prepare to avoid sins and distractions.

After Fasting:

• Break the fast (iftar) on time and recite the dua before eating.

• Perform extra prayers (such as Taraweeh in Ramadan) and make dua.

• Continue good habits like dhikr and reading the Quran.

Benefits of Fasting:

• Brings us closer to Allah and increases taqwa (God-consciousness).

• Purifies the soul and strengthens self-discipline.

• Teaches patience and gratitude by making us appreciate our blessings.

• Acts as a shield from Hellfire and a means of forgiveness for sins.

• Has physical health benefits, such as improving metabolism and detoxifying the body.

What to Do If You Cannot Fast Due to a Valid Reason

• If someone misses fasting due to illness, travel, pregnancy, or other valid reasons, they must make up for it (qada’) later when they are able.

• If someone is permanently unable to fast (e.g., due to chronic illness or old age), they must pay fidyah (feeding a poor person for each missed day).

Actions That Invalidate (Break) the Fast

1. Eating or drinking intentionally (if done by mistake, the fast remains valid).

2. Vomiting intentionally.

3. Engaging in sexual intercourse during fasting hours.

4. Menstruation or postnatal bleeding for women.

5. Apostasy (leaving Islam), since fasting is an act of worship, leaving the faith invalidates it.
