         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ancient Mesopotamia is one of the oldest civilizations known for having the religion Polytheism. While Ancient Egypt also was another older civilization that practiced polytheism. So polytheism originated in the eastern region of the world mostly from parts of Ancient Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt. There wasn’t a declared founder of Polytheism. People just started to worship gods or goddesses that they believed helped them create their civilization. Polytheism started in the Ancient Mesopotamia/Egypt region. Polytheism continued to spread to other early eastern civilizations. This will be mainly focused on Mesopotamian Polytheism.</div>]]></description>

There were 7 main Mesopotamian gods or goddesses that included An, Enlil, Enki, Ninhursag, Nanna, Utu, and Inanna. They built Ziggurats to worship them. In fact, they would bring offerings to the ziggurats for them.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There were many celebrations in Mesopotamia. Such as when babies were born or when two people got married. A popular Mesopotamian festival was the Akitu festival. Akitu festival takes place in the first month of the year in Babylonian calendar around March or April. Akitu festival was the celebration of sowing barley. Since Akitu festival was celebrated in the first month of the year it could have helped invent New Years now at least the date.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>They believed that the dead would go to this underworld like the opposite of heaven and a shadowy version of life on Earth. When people are ready to go to the underworld the living would place them with food, drinks, and other offerings. Then, often wrap them in mats or carpets. Sometimes instead they would be buried and have a stone carved with their name on it. If someone died young like as a child they would be placed in large jars in their family’s chapel.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

The Mesopotamian people just knew that there had to be someone or something that helped create their civilization.
