At first, us students were thrilled to hear that school had been canceled for 2 weeks or maybe even the entire year. And with summer bound to happen it was even better, it just meant that we had more time to go to beaches, vacations, parties, and obviously our friends house’s. Although, months passed by and everything changed. People were walking around with masks, Lysol wipes, and everyone stayed “six feet away”. On January 21 the first case of COVID-19 was reported. The U.S government comforted the u.s citizens by saying that everything would be fine and that it would just go away. Unfortunately, that wasn’t what happened, more and more people were diagnosed with this deadly disease and took millions of peoples lives. I believe that the government and professional people in the field of medicine under reacted and allowed this deadly disease to reach to the point that it is today. Mom answer- I was completely terrified and new that this wasn’t a joke. I was very sacred because my dad is 97 and didn’t want him to get sick.  I also couldn’t believe this was true and that we were going to go through this.

Mom answer- Not really, but I have started watching a lot of new tv shows and movies.

For example, when It was my thirteenth birthday and I was going to celebrate my bar mitzvah. I was so excited that I would finally be able to have my Bar Mitzvah and celebrate it with all my friends and family members. I was also very thrilled because I have been studying and learning all the prayers for so long. We ordered a Dj, a dance floor, a ton of food, but ... it all got canceled. At first, everything got pushed to another day, and we all hoped that COVID would go away. That is what I thought at the time. That other day arrived but the disease was even worse than it was before. So again everything got canceled and rescheduled to another day. During this long time to decide when and how we would have my Bar Mitzvah, we decided to do it online instead of in person. Although everything we planned was ruined and I wouldn’t be able to celebrate this special moment with my friends I would be able to do it through the computer. From having new hobbies or having cleaning products next to me wherever I am, or even looking at the world differently. Since I can’t go outside the house, I began playing ping pong with my family members. I also go in the pool way more often now then before. Continuously, Netflix has taken up a lot of my time during the day. “Suits” and “How to Get Away With Murder” are now two of my favorite tv shows. Furthermore, now knowing how easy it is to get affected by someone else’s cold or sickness, I am always carrying a hand sanitizer. It is always important to wash your hands all around so you don’t get sick. This quarantine made me realize and learn how the dangerous these diseases are. Lastly, my perspective in the world and how we take things for granted has completely changed after this quarantine because you will never know what can happen next. You will never know what your last words will be to someone. This is why you should never be afraid to do anything and always appreciate what you have.
