Their beliefs are that one god Ahura Madza is compassionate, just, and is the creator of the universe. While in contrast an evil god, Angra Mainyu is the cause of destruction. They also believe that a body shall not buried or cremated, but instead they lay it out on a "dokhma" or "Tower of Silence" where it is then exposed to the sun and eaten by birds.

If obligations were not followed it is thought that evil demons have taken a hold of you and in order to re purify yourself you must go through a complex ritual bath that involves many steps. 
The Avesta was a primary collection of religious texts which greatly influenced mankind.
