French and Indian War-1754 through 1763

The French and Indian war was a 7-year-long war against the French, Spain, and Indians v.s. the British. They were fighting over a land in North America. Spain got involved, because the French needed help, and promised them some land. In the war, both General's died. In the end, the British ended up winning, and kicking out the French.

Stamp Acts-1765

Quartering Acts-1765

The Quartering Act is when colonists had to quarter (let in) British soliders to sleep in their beds, and eat the best food. and if you said anything bad about the soliders or the king, you would go to the court.

Townshend Acts-1767

These acts made colonists pay taxes on everyday items such as tea, glass, paper and other nesseties to pay for military costs due to the Quartering Act

Boston Massacre-1770

Colonists shouted and threw snowballs at British soliders. The soliders were probably scared and started firing. In the end, 5 innocent colonists were killed.

Tea Act-1773

The Boston Tea Party-1773

The Boston Tea Party was a protest against the Tea Act. Colonists (dressed as Indians) snuck upon a ship filled with tea from Britain. They threw all of the tea overboard, a lost 1 million dollars.

The Coercive/Intolorable Acts are when the King closed the Boston Harbor, sent more soliders over, and banned town meetings or any gatherings between the colonists.

The Battle's of Lexington and Concord-1775

The Battle of Lexington and Concord was in April, on the 19th. They were the leading battles to the Revolutionary War. The colonists lost the one in Lexington, but won the battle in Concord.

Declaration of Independence-1776

The Declaration of Independence was officially published on July 4th (America's bday) and was a document full of 27 reasons why to break away from the evil King and his soliders. it was also just an official act of independence.

Winter at Valley Forge-1777-78

Winter at Valley Forge is where George Washington led his army to a camp called Valley Forge. They would have to survive the winter there. The British were 25 miles east, in Philly. In the begginning, there were 11000 men. After winter, there were only 6000 left, about half. Most men died from starvation, dieseses, or frostbite.

The Battle of Yorktown-1778

The battle of Yorktown was a 3-week battle against the Continental Army and their French allies, and the British. George Washington's strategy was to build trenches to block them. In the end, it worked. American Victory!

Louisiana Purchace-1803

The Louisiana Purchace was during the French and Indian War. when France had given much of North America to Spain to prevent the British from caving in. Spain closed the port of New Orleans. T. Jefferson became president, and sent two men to ask Napoleon for part of Louisiana and for New Orleans. He offered $10 million for 8000000 square miles of land. Napoloen was fighting two wars and needed money. He offered to sell all of it for only $15000000, $.04 per acre. On April 30, 1803 the US agreed to purchace it. The sale became known as the Louisiana Purchace

Oregon Trail-1841-1869

The Oregon Trail was a major route. Hundreds of thousands of people traveled west. It began in Missouri and ended in Oregon City. Many people took there belongings in covered wagons. Many, many people died from getting run over by the wagon, drowning, or chorea a deadly sickness).

Indian Removal Act-1830

The Indian Removal Act was when we nearly doubled our land from the Louisiana Purchase, but Indians were on our land. A lot of people wanted to kick them out. When gold was found on Cherokee land, the rush became more than a question. It was a demand. Supreme Court didn't allow them to go kick them out. They needed a signature first. Trail of Tears-1831-1850

The Trail of Tears was a long route from Georgia to Alabama that the Cherokee took to get to the resorvation. It was long and hard. John Ross pleaded for a winter walk, but it was worse than summer. Diseases, starvation, and more killed so many Cherokee. some Cherokee stayed and fought, but the U.S. Army caught up with them. While a lot went on the trail, some managed to escape into woods, surviving the torture.

Missouri Comprimise-1820

The Missouri Comprimise was when the US was split into two parts. The North wanted to outlaw slavery, while the South wanted slavery everywhere. The South's whole life was dependent on slaves, so they werent going to give up easily

The Attack on Fort Sumter-1861

The Emancipation Proclamation was when President Abraham Lincoln decreed all slaves free. Sadly, the Emancipation Proclamation did not free all slaves in the United States. Instead, it declared free only those slaves living in states not under Union control.

Gettysburg Address-1863

Sherman's March to the Sea-1864

This happened when General Sherman got permission from President Lincoln to walk more than 250 miles in Geogia to burn and ruin everything in it's path, in hop eto spoil the South's chances of winning. This killed 2300 Confederate soliders.
