I was kind of late to the “whipped coffee” trend. Considering it started last year in March- April. Last weekend, I finally decided to make it, and it tasted scrumptious! It really opened my mind to the concept of coffee.

Because I still haven’t gotten my vaccine yet, I’m still technically “quarantining” My parents thought that I would be bored after spending a year with not hanging out with my friends, so they gave me a plant to take care of! It’s still alive! <3

Even from the start of quarantine to now, my artistic side still shows. I have no one to hang out with so painting, drawing, etc. was my escape from reality. Doing this really helps me distress.

Q: Did you have to cancel any major events like a vacation, a Mitzvah, etc. because of the pandemic?

A: Yes, actually. On March 13th, when we were let out for two weeks, spring break was supposed to be the next following week. My family and I were planning on visiting Paris and Greece. We may, hopefully, go this summer. And, every summer we will go to Colombia for a month to visit family. But unfortunately that was also cancelled. Overall besides those two things, nothing else was cancelled.

Q: What has this pandemic made you realize?

A: This pandemic has made me realize the importance of spending time with family. In the prior months, we typically didn’t spend that much time together as a family. Now, we dedicate at least an hour together. It made me more grateful as well. There were some people that had to spend the pandemic alone: in a college dorm room, in a house by themselves, etc. Family is stronger than anything. The bond that you have with your family is a bond that can never be broken.

Q: What were your first reactions to Covid 19?

A: At first, I thought that it was something minor. That when we got sent home for two weeks, once that time slot was over, we would all return to school again like nothing had ever happened. We would come back and live a relatively normal life again. I didn’t think that things would get THIS bad. I thought it would be a disease where only 1,000-2,000 people in the U.S got AT MOST. But oh my, how things have changed. But overall, I didn’t take it EXTREMELY seriously. Overall thinking very optimistically.

Santiago: “What was your overall reaction to Covid 19?”

Mother: “When this all started, I was a little bit startled at the fact we couldn’t go anywhere. To me, it seemed a bit excessive. Like, how bad could it have been to go outside. When I heard that we had to “quarantine” it made me think of the movie “Outbreak” I didn’t think that this was actually something very serious that could affect people. It was a shock to me entirely.”

Santiago: “What things did you do to occupy yourself when this all started?”

Sister: “When this all began, I became addicted to tiktok. So, as I was scrolling I found some fun things that we could do add home, like: making whipped coffee, doing chloe thing workouts, etc. Having all this self care time to myself had really put my mental health in a positive place.”

I watched this show before quarantine, but I decided to watch it again to refresh my memory on it: The show is called “Miraculous Ladybug: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir” and it’s based on this highschool girl, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, who is living a secret life as a superhero. But, nobody can know who she is.
