It’s about a boy begging for love from his beloved one. Maybe the character in the song is sitting alone in the dark and thinking about the other one. 

When I listen to the song, I feel the sadness in my heart. I have sympathy for the character in the song because he wants to be loved but gets denied. 

I love this song because it brings me the feeling of being understood. I realize I am not the only one who is in that situation. Thank Sam Smith for a beautiful song that heals my soul from the inside.
