Though I dabbled a bit in composite photos over the summer while backpacking in Glacier National Park, this assignment was really enjoyable and different from anything else I've done, and it was nice to really understand how composites worked. Over the summer, I didn't really know how they worked, and ended up with mediocre canvases and massive file sizes. Shooting was also challenging and an exercise in patience and basic math skills. For the campus photo, I tried about 4 different locations before I finally settled on the Colonnade photo that I was satisfied with. In retrospect, using the corner of the plaza really made the image feel 3D and more interesting than some of the straight on shots I tried before. As for the off-campus photo, I decided to go to McDowell Mountain and arrived just in time for prime golden hour. Though it was difficult to shoot directly into the sun, I'm really satisfied with how it turned out.

I have some pretty extensive experience with Photoshop already, but it was really fun to use it for the purpose of composites, and to also used actions, which I had never done before. When I used it for my photos over the summer, I used the auto perspective transform, but doing it manually made it much more interesting and enjoyable, and obviously using actions made the final files NOT 1GB each. I'm excited to do more of these in the future!
