Scones and homemade jam is one of the many foods that have become a "symbol" to British Culture.
The very famous "British breakfast", with beans, toast and eggs, have become the first thing people think about when they visit England.
But also foods like pie, fish n chips and mashed potatoes are very meaningful to British People, because that's what reminds them of home.
The Food has impacted the British Culture and their identity around the world. For many decades, people cook and sell foods that have been "invented" years ago. British people describe that as something that has been always consistent. For their Culture, it's a base to build up on.

The Food has developed, also because of the increasing multiculturalism.
The Indian, Italian and other cuisine have become a part of the British Culture. People now are more open to try something new and be more open to other cultures.
British people like to keep their traditions, but also are more likely to explore the other to develop their own.
British Food doesn't only consist of their own kitchen, but also of others that put a twist into it.
Most of the time, the workers at British restaurants are immigrants or students. They put their own twist to it and that's what makes THAT restaurant then so special.
The next generation is also able to explore different Taste and Show interest in other cultures
In conclusion, the varieties of food now also portray the more open-minded people.
