I believe they need the 193 pounds of "portable soup" because they need to be able to have food and not starve.

I believe they needed writing paper, ink and crayon to be able to write the maps and make document on their ride.

I just believe they needed all clothing in general. There were times when it got really cold for example giving over that big mountain that got really cold and eventually made it back to pacific ocean.

They need weapons, for example, rifles or knifes. The rifles would need gunpowder of course though.

Last but not least I think they would need a compass in order to know their direction when making it to the pacific ocean.

1st person

My first person, I choose to take on my trip is Sergeant Nathaniel Pryor. He must of been special with having a wife. They wanted mostly unmarried men to go on the mission. Along with him I know he will bring character and his ability to this expedition. Though he had a tough travel with being lost. He was the !s leader of a group of six privates. I say he will bring much to have him aboard.

2nd person

For my second person, I choose Seaman the dog. Though is known as the “Newfoundland Dog”. A dog is loyal and will obey when treated right. Though he was no just an ordinary dog. His dog breed was Newfoundland representing Black and white breeded dog. Later it is known as Landseer. He was mentioned multiple times in the journals of Captain Meriwether Lewis. Though his name was on a creek named Seaman’s Creek. Though it now is called, Monture Creek. Knowing that he was named for something must mean a lot.

Plant

A plant they found was named Glacier Lily or Erythronium grandiflorum. He wasn't very wowed by it because right away he recognized it as a dog-toothed violet. He collected two. This first specimen was called “squamous” that was right by “the waters of Kooskoosky”. Squamous referred as a word for scaly specimens. He mentioned this about the bud of the flower. He called the second a “paratype”. This is referring to the first and how the second specimen was the second collected. This for the native people was used for food. For example, they would cook it or eat it raw and the kids eat the stem as a candy. Some even used for medical reasons. Though Pursh wrote that probably meaning of the Nez Perce people.

Animal

One animal found on the trip goes sby American Pronghorn now. It is mostly in the region of western American. Which was the way The Lewis and Clark Exhibition went. See this animal could have been instinct with others along the line of living like a hundred years ago. Do to speed of running very fast, they survived. They were very fast and probably weren't really keen to strangers I am not sure how close Lewis or Clark may have gotten to them and got to know these fast animals.

The Nez Perce Indians

I chose these Indians because I heard their name when finding a plant. They would be found all around the Plains west of the Rocky Mountains. The were really good with horses and owned many. There would be about 4,000 people in the tribe. They used to get guns and ammo by taking it from the Canadians. Lewis and Clark met these Indians in May 1806. That is were they rested there for awhile and traded horses in order to go over the mountain. Clark would treat them and possibly, as lewis said, “Favorite physician”. They stayed with them from May to June.
