First: make sure you sign into Padlet with your Google login (otherwise it will not grab your name; you will not get points). Second: click the "plus" sign in the lower right to start a post. For the title, list the title of one, current YA novel promoting social change (include the author's name). In the body of the post, write 2-3 *original* sentences describing the book and indicating the type of change it is promoting. Click the "three dots" (snowman) to attach an image (Google images is usually easiest). Ideally, the image should be of the book cover, though it could be of a related image.

Speak(1999) by Laurie Halse Anderson tells the story of a girl who is ostracized by her peers because she ended up busting a party over the summer. She didn't call the cops to bust the party though, it was in reaction to being sexually assaulted but she won't tell anybody about what really happened, in fact she stops speaking almost entirely. The story follows her through the events of the following school year and how she deals with the issues that arise from being ostracized and from her trauma. This book promotes social change through the understanding of the main character's experience.
