I am delighted to have maintained the lively elements of my cultural background associated with Nigerian dance and music. Whether it's traditional drumming or Afrobeats, music allows me to express myself and stay connected to my roots. Sometimes, I find that listening to music from Nigeria helps me stay motivated while I study.

In Nigerian society, a strong focus is placed on family regarding health care matters. This approach fosters greater teamwork compared to the more solitary methods I've observed in Canada. Engaging family members in patient care is essential for honoring and maintaining cultural values, as I have discovered during my studies. This holds particularly significant for families with roots in Africa or Nigeria.

My native language remains an integral part of my identity, even though English is the primary language I use in Canada. Communicating in Yoruba (or any Nigerian language) with family and friends not only preserves my cultural roots, but it also brings me back to the warmth of my childhood home. My aim is to share the knowledge, narratives, and customs that are woven into communication.

Engaging in Nigerian events held in Canada deepens my bond with my cultural roots. During these celebrations, when we pay tribute to our culture through music, movement, and cuisine, I experience the deepest connection to my roots. My identity as a Nigerian is unwavering, despite currently living outside of Nigeria.
