Everyone of us get some blurry imagination of a village when you talk about it. But, in general I don't really think it's that beautiful or astonishing always. I dwell at Hyderabad, Telangana. I personally do not have a proper village. But, there is a place to which i'm so connected. Not long ago, that village didn't have electricity and was suffering with very basic problems. I'd like to conclude that people in this generation are not just happy with the mountains, trees or birds... people will be needing basic requirements for their happiness.

I'll say about my village, mine is located near Theni, Madurai.
So the frequent issues which I see when I visit is the power cut and water supply is not adequate. Basically most of them are farmers and they find it difficult due to lack of water.
Houses are made up of stones, bricks and mostly they use steel sheets for roofing.
I must agree to this, the people in my village are kind, helpful and easily approachable.
Its not always like we see in movies, full greenery and the climate is awesome throughout the year, they do face problems and find it difficult to overcome it.

My "Imagination" of a Village ( Jaideep R )

( Everyone would have come up with facts and details about how villages look like or what they lack but I thought of deviating a bit by narrating my daily life as a villager in Tamil Nadu just to boost your imagination )

If I was a village resident, I would be waking up to the rooster's crow every morning instead of a blaring alarm clock. Opening my eyes to the straw roof, I slowly get up and inhale the cool, fresh breeze. After brushing my teeth with a margosa stick and showering with the water from the well, I would feed the animals reared in the farm behind the house. The absence of cars and factories means that the water is free of pollutants, making it drinkable too. Off I go down the moist mud road to the paddy field, passing by my neighbors, greeting them with a big smile. The village community is pretty small so almost everyone knows each other. Skeptical about machines due to their price and high maintenance costs, I would be harvesting the matured green paddy crops with my own hands. Stopping for breaks in between, sipping on some fresh tender coconut water to hydrate myself because Gatorade and Redbull don't exist in villages. The villagers depend more on nature for all their needs from infrastructure to medication. As I finish the harvest, I break off for lunch. Chunks of rice on my banana leaf, topped of with a spicy and fragrant gravy and delicious sides to go with my main dish, all organically grown and made with a wok and woodfire. The sun gradually sets, the chirping of the crickets kick in. As I sit under a filament bulb to finish my work, the power goes off. Power outages like these are very normal in my village. I reach out for the candles and light them up. The dim light was more than enough for me to work with. After finishing a light dinner, I would read a book and settle in my mat under the starry sky, dozing off to the beauty of the twinkling stars.
