Objectives:

Understand and analyze 21st-century issues

Utilize the chromatic scale to create music that expresses complex emotions.

Record and integrate environmental sounds, such as those from cars, construction, raindrops, the ocean, and birds, into their compositions.

Requirements:

Each student will compose a piece of music that may serve as healing music or convey a different emotional experience.

Students must blend their recorded environmental sounds with chromatic melodies to create a cohesive musical experience.

The final composition should reflect the chosen 21st-century issue and demonstrate creativity and musicality.

Presentation:

Students will present their compositions to the class, discussing their creative process, the significance of the chosen themes, and how they used sound to convey their message.

Your work will be judged by the following criteria:

-Your chosen challenge will inspire the concept for your music video.

After completing the poster, each group has to present their understanding on the 21 century challenges.

1. Determine the primary emotion you want to convey in your video based on the theme of your challenge. This will guide the overall feel of your soundtrack.

2. Choose an appropriate tempo and time signature (rhythmic structure) that aligns with the emotion and pace of your video. A fast tempo might convey urgency, while a slower tempo can evoke reflection or calmness.

3. Decide on the instruments for your composition. Consider how each instrument's unique character can enhance the emotion (e.g., piano for melancholy, strings for tension, drums for energy).

4. Develop a short musical phrase or motif. You can take inspiration from a piece of music or song you like, and then modify it by adding chromaticism (using notes outside the traditional scale) to make it unique and expressive.

5. Build on your motif by expanding it into a fuller composition. Experiment with adding variations, harmonies, and different textures until you're satisfied with the outcome.
