The children will read Ruby’s Worry and explore the importance of recognising and talking about their feelings. Through discussions and activities, they will learn that everyone experiences worries from time to time and that sharing their feelings with a trusted adult or friend can help them feel better. This story will support the children in developing emotional awareness, empathy, and confidence in expressing their emotions.

You can support your child at home by reading them a range of stories. To further develop your child's imagination and create a love for reading please read a range of stories to your child and discuss what you have read. Identify the characters and key events within the story. Children will be sent home library books at the end of each week for you to read to them.

You can support your child at home by watching the phonics links sent on teams weekly and completing the sound writing sheets.

On Friday children will be sent homework to complete each week and will also be asked to return each Friday. Please ensure your child completes this weekly.

We are learning about the importance of having school rules and what these look like.

Ready- arriving at school in correct uniform. Sitting down legs crossed and magnet eyes to the adult

Respectful- being kind to one another. Listening when others are talking

Safe- moving around Reception safely indoors and outdoors. Tidying up throughout the day.

At home please support your child by discussing our school rules and the importance of having rules.

You can support your child’s learning at home by discussing who lives in your house. What kind of home you live in. What job roles people have in your home.

You should also create a 3D model to represent a favourite part of your house.

• Children must come to school wearing the correct uniform each day. Please refer to the school website to see what the uniform should look like:  https://www.wexhamprimary.com/page/?title=Uniform&pid=93 Please label all items of clothing with your child’s name 

• Please send in wellington boots and spare clothes to keep in school labelled with your child’s name.

• Homework will be sent out and returned every Friday.

• Library books will be given out and returned every Friday so please ensure you send the old book in to be changed. If your child loses or damages a school book there will be a charge of £5. 

You can support your child at home by creating opportunities to count for example counting teddies. You should also create opportunities to compare quantities for example there are more bananas then apples in the fruit bowl.

Please practise recognising and writing numbers 0-3 each day.

We will then begin the story Chapatti Moon, and the children will take part in a hands-on cooking activity, where they will make their own chapattis and chutney, developing their understanding of different cultures while building practical cooking skills.

To further develop your child's imagination and create a love for reading please read a range of stories to your child and discuss what you have read.

Please ensure you are practicing these sounds daily with your children, from the phonics links provided on Teams by your child's phonics teacher.

In terms of support, you can play different counting games to build confidence with their recognition. Please ensure you are practicing number formation from 1-5 daily with the children.

If you would like to speak to your child's class teacher in person please arrange an appointment via Teams or alternatively wait until all children are dismissed to speak to the teacher.
