I would like to take part in a race.Personally I have participated in the race similar to the race in the video. It was the first time experiencing a 5km race for a school event (experiencing what?) and since then I have not participated in any new races thus I would want to experience running in? a race again. now let me share with you my experience from my very first 5km race. I got to participate the race as I was in the cross-country CCA in my school. I could still remember the anticipation when I was standing at the starting line feeling anxious and thrilled as adrenaline <del>rushes</del> courses through my body .As the horn blew, i could see my fellow runners at the corner of my eye , running along side with me. I don’t treat them as competitors but instead comrades running together with me to accomplish a common goal. Running along the reservoir, i would feel the breeze of the air and feel instantly relaxed in the presence of nature. <del>very comfortable</del>. When i could see the finishing line , I used every last ounce of my energy and my whole body is was drenched with sweat. As i crossed the finishing line i feel felt a sense of accomplishment and i feel felt very proud of myself and learnt the value of perseverance.Though during the race i faced some challenges like almost running into a tree and sliding down the muddy ground i still got up and continue to run. The race let me understand more about perseverance, and that if i don’t give up anything is possible . Once again,i would like to feel that sense of accomplishment again and thus joining a marathon or competition would fulfil my wishes. before i participated in a race , i thought that running was a dull and tiresome activity but afterwards i found that racing was a very eye opening experience for me.
Personal response is devp; good ideas but structures are broken / grammatically inaccurate; vocab is OK but can be better

No. I participated in a sports event that my school hosted. It was a running segment that was an inter class competition. My classmate and I had to run around the stadium in a group.

I was out of breath and couldn't complete the race due to my lack of stamina. It made me exhausted for the next few days, I had muscle cramp in my legs and it was challenging for me to walk around because the cramp was so bad and since I had not exercised in a while. Therefore I would not want to participate in a race. After that experience, I would rather be there to cheer for my classmates who are participating in the race than being the runner.

Personal response is devp but contradictory idea will confuse the examiner, vocab can be better; structures are broken / grammatically inaccurate

I would take part in this race. Firstly, I feel that participating in a competition is a way for me to drive towards success, this is because , competitions motivate me to become stronger and more resilient ,making me stay hungry for improvements . A side from success in the race , failures from the race will also ignite the ambers of resilience in my inner-self to come back from failure. Secondly , I feel that competing in a race is also a very good way to drill my mental mind as the training for the race would require a mentality as strong as steel to persist with the <del>hardcore</del> intensive training. Personally for myself , I am also a former competitive swimmer and I have been participating actively in multiple competitions throughout my career. In preparation for the competitions , I’ve faced countless difficulties which tempted me to give in however with the mentality of not giving in, I persisted and had performed tremendously well in my competitions. The grind for the competitions conditioned my mind to remain strong and impregnable, this is extremely vital as we will have many obstacles in life which will require a strong mind to overcome

This is a personal question; no mention of past experience of personally taking part in a race; wasted because the vocab is actually good and the grammar / structure is sound

I would like to participate in a race.Personally,i had joined a running race.It was one of the most intense moment in my life as I'm competing with people that are really fast and all of us want to win.During the race, all the runners were running with all their effort and i remember being one of the last.Expectedly, I lost the race ,probably because I did not train hard enough for it.I kind of regret it as I know that if I put a little effort in training,I may have won or not ended as one of the last peiple. I learned that regret is forever and in order to not regret, I should put in the hardwork and determination in order to succeed. Personal response is devp to some extent; can elaborate more (talk about 5W1H of the race); vocab is OK only can be improved; structures are accurate and simple

I disagree that all children should be made to take part in competition. Firstly, nowadays I feel that children tend to be children may not be able to take failure lightly when they are not able <del>more sensitive to situations</del> such as not achieving their goals or expectations, leading to being disappointed in themselves and feel like failures. I feel that children are now more sensitive towards situations as we are more advance to technology, more and more children would have social media apps. Hence some children would want to share their proud moments on the internet which may trigger the children who didn’t do as well as them with it, it would make them feel upset in themselves. Thus with competition, it may result in lowing of self-esteem as their efforts are not being recognized.
Secondly, some parents maybe strict and have high expectations in their child. They would want their children to have a good grade or even want them to be top of the class. Hence, competition can put more pressure on the children, making them want to cheat, as they may seem that they won’t be able to do as well as they could. For example, recently we had the international Winter Olympics. We all know how competitive and strenuous that once in a lifetime opportunity is like right? Unfortunately, 15 year old Kamila who competes in the ice skating program, was found to have taken drugs

I disagree with the view that all children should be made to take part in competitions.

Firstly,I think that children should be given the choice of whether they would like to participate in the event or not. Some children may not feel inclined to join the event maybe because they don’t feel like they would excel in the event or they may have some underlying medical issues which would cause them to be unable to join excel in the sport. It may also cause the children to feel disheartened if they lose the competition and lower their self-esteem.
Secondly, doing intense physical training for the sports event may cause injuries and result in permanent damage to children. Harsh training to the children is tough and not all children are willing to go through the hardship of excising everyday for one main event. For me, i have gotten a permanent injury from intense running as I am part of a sports cca called cross country. We train three times per week and it’s quite tiring to have to run 3km or more three times per week.
However, some people think that making children join events

I disagree that all children should be made to take part in competitions. Firstly, children are already struggling to manage time. For example, they are given a lot of school work that have to be competed in a small amount of time. Furthermore, they have to put aside time to train, after which they are fatigued. They also have to cope with their school work after training. Because of this they have barely any time to take part in a competition.

Secondly, some children do not have the mental strength to compete in competitions. Since they have not competed before, they lack experience. They also need to build the confidence and resilience. Unlike an adult who would be able to handle losing, children might feel disappointed and loose confidence after losing a competition. They might start to think they are not capable of winning any competitions. Personally, I think a child should be able to choose whether or not they want to take part in competitions.

However some people may argue that children should be made to take part in competitions because they have a lot of energy. For example, they could use their energy by competing in sports competitions. Furthermore, this also encourages them to develop a healthy lifestyle from a young age.

Due to the pandemic, many children have no been able to go outdoors and stay active. Because they have been staying home there are most likely unable to compete in competitions as they have not been as active.

Therefore, I disagree that all children should be made to take part in competitions. Personally, I think children have their own interests. Some are more sporty while others prefer to not play sports.
