Title: The Bubota

Type of myth: Catalonian

Summary: The Bubota is a staple in Andorra mythology. A thin, ghost-like creature, the Bubota resides in the crosses of gravestones. According to Catalonian tales, the Bubota wears a sheet over it’s head and body. The Bubota will mostly remain invisible, sending chills through those he wants to scare. More than spectral elements, they can also be disguised as pranksters and smugglers, although they are referred to as supernatural presences.

Source: “Foreign Relations of Andorra.” Wikipedia, Wikimedia Foundation, 3 Feb. 2019, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_relations_of_Andorra.

Andorra’s first Constitution was approved in 1993. The Constitution was signed by Andorra’s two co-princes, the President of France and the Bishop of Urgell. The new Constitution stipulates that these two officials are Andorra's heads of state. The constitution lays out many of Andorran citizens’ rights, including rights in court and marriage. This development is very important in Andorra’s history because the constitution has shaped the way of life in Andorra ever since, and will for many years to come.

Source: “Constitution of Andorra.” Wikipedia, Wikimedia Foundation, 17 Nov. 2018, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_Andorra.

Coma Pedrosa is the highest mountain in all of Andorra. Reaching a height of 2,943 m, or, 9,656 ft, it is a popular spot for mountain climbers. Tourists love the chance to climb and take pictures on Coma Pedrosa, so the mountain also generates a bit of an income. Shaped like a pyramid, Coma Pedrosa sits near the border between Spain and France. In the past, it had acted as a barrier between France and Andorra. It takes about 4 to 4 ½ hours to climb, and is definitely on the “must visit” list for Andorra.

Source: “Coma Pedrosa.” Wikipedia, Wikimedia Foundation, 10 Jan. 2019, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coma_Pedrosa.
