Securing stable housing after release from incarceration has consistently been identified as one of the most critical factors for successful re-entry into the community. Yet, formerly incarcerated individuals remain almost ten times more likely to experience homelessness. This summit will highlight the important work the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights has undertaken to protect individuals with justice-involved backgrounds, while amplifying the voices and honoring the resilience of those with lived experience of incarceration.

This summit will bring together community members, nonprofits, advocates, service providers, case managers, and other key stakeholders for discussions, presentations, and collaborative conversations. Together, we will explore systemic barriers to fair housing, examine effective strategies to combat housing discrimination, and strengthen connections across communities committed to second chances.

We also plan to offer organizations the opportunity to share resources with attendees and participate in a guided Community Conversation focused on housing discrimination and reentry challenges in New Jersey. Because your organization plays a vital role in supporting individuals seeking safe, stable housing, we want to ensure you receive this invitation early.
