In choosing a fast shutter speed I was able to capture the smoke coming out from the gun, I had to compensate with a high ISO to be able to get the high shutter speed. With these camera settings I was able to capture the water fall looking more dreamy. My daughter swung them around in front of her, whilst I took the shot. I chose a wide angle lens to make sure everything was in shot and a shutter speed of 15.0 sec to be able to capture the light. I chose an aperture of f22 to enable everything in the image to be in focus. My camera was set on a tripod to prevent motion blur.

Here I was trying to capture Hunter jumping over the log, although it looks like he’s just stepping over it, I really like this image.
I have found it quite challenging to get these action shots, especially when you need to make sure the dogs eye is in focus.

I placed some paprika on the table, then the chilly to make it look like it had exploded. I used a black velvet back drop and used one ring light placed to the side of my subject, in order to achieve a dark moody look which enhances the vibrant red chilly. I experimented with different Apertures and preferred a shallow depth of field. My camera was set on my tripod facing the Chilly, slightly from above looking down. I experimented with different angels and preferred this image.

I used a black baking tray and placed the wine glass on to catch the water, with a black velvet back drop to create a dark moody look. I used one ring light to the side and a speed flash on my camera to freeze the water drops. My camera was set on a timer and burst mode. I experimented with different shutter speeds and found that 0.5 sec produced a nice sharp image.

I sprayed the can with water and carefully placed a couple of water droplets on the grass. I used one ring light to the side and one piece of cardboard wrapped in tinfoil to reflect the light on the other side and one torch directly at the drops of water to highlight them. My camera was set on my tripod facing directly at my subjects. I used my Macro lens in order to see the reflection in the water drops. I set my aperture to f22 for a deeper depth of field.

I placed the wine glass on my kitchen table, used a black backdrop and my daughter waved a sparkler around behind the wineglass whilst I took the image. My camera was set on a tripod to prevent motion blur. I faced the camera directly at my subject and set my shutter speed to 4.0sec to catch the light, with a nice sharp image. I used an aperture of f/4 and my 50mm 1.8 canon lens.

I filled the wine glass 3/4 full with water. I placed my hot shoe flash on my Canon 1300d camera and faced my camera directly at the subject. My aperture was set to f/5.6 for a deeper depth of field. I used my macro lens for this shot so we could see the colours pop.

To create this image, I used natural lighting coming in from a window, which wasn't enough light, so I included my flash to my hot shoe on my camera to acheive high key lighting.
I placed my items on a white artist's canvas and used blue tack to help position the subjects. I arranged the flowers to look like they were pouring out of the teapot. My camera was set on a tripod facing down on to the subject. I used a deep depth of field to ensure all subjects were in focus and used the rule of thirds for composition.

I researched the internet on how to use table lights, to light your subject.
This is a drawing of a wine bottle on a table with black velvet cloth & clear perspex on top.
I placed my back drop behind the subject and my torch led light behind the back drop, raised on a chair.
I used each light individually so I could see where the lights/highlights were hitting the subject.
I then placed a further Light either side of the subject, moving them up and down, taking shots in-between to see where the lights/highlights were hitting.
I then held a led torch over the top of the wine bottle to add more light and placed a small torch, with a paper snoot attached, to add more light to the bottles label.
I also placed white foam board either side of my subjects to reflect more light. I used an aperture of f/16 for a deeper depth of field. I used a wider angel lens so i could get closer to the subject. I made sure to tuck any wire’s or tripping hazards out of the way. Once I’d finished, I made sure all equipment was put away it’s rightful place.
My camera was placed on a tripod facing directly at the subjects.

For this image I used, three torch led lights, one behind the back drop, two either side of the subjects, slightly behind on a 45 degree angle. I used a small table lamp to light the label and a small led torch over the top of the subjects to produce more light. I also placed white foam board either side of the subjects to reflect more light on the sides. My camera was set on my tripod facing directly at the subjects.

What would improve this image , is to invest in a couple of strip boxes, to be able to achieve a more soft gradient light on the edges of the bottle and glass. We then took various images and compositions to achieve low light and hight light, still life images. We placed the frozen flower on the table, with a continuous light to the side and used the barn doors to get the right low key look.

I had an idea to create a flying sandwich, I wanted it to look like I'd just made it in my kitchen and it slipped off my plate.
To assemble the sandwich, I attached some fishing wire to my backdrop stands and used 5 layers. Then carefully placed each item on top of the fishing wire.
I used my Canon 1300d camera on my tripod. I had the camera facing directly at the subject.
I used a speed light on my camera's hot shoe.
I placed two white foam boards, one either side of the subject to reflect the light.
I used a deep depth of field:
F/6.3
I had to increase my ISO to get the right exposure:

This picture,”Dovima with the Elephants” was taken by Avedon at the Cirque d’hiver, Paris, in August 1955. The dress was the first evening dress designed for Christian Dior by his new assistant, Yves Saint-Laurent.

Perspective - This photo was taken as a landscape image straight on to show the movement of the subjects. Dovima's arm is held up and in line with the elephants trunks.
Which communicates, elegance, beauty and fashion.

Depth Of Field - The foreground is more in focus than the background. This makes you instantly drawn to Dovima in her elegant white dress.

Thoughts - My first thoughts on this image, was the poor elephants tied up. Avedon photographed the model known as Dovima (born Dorothy Virginia Margaret Juba) in a studio and various Paris locations, including the Cirque d’Hiver, where this image was shot. He later recounted, “I saw the elephants under an enormous skylight… . I then had to find the right dress and I knew there was a potential here for a kind of dream image.” The dress chosen was in fact the first design for Dior by 19-year-old Yves Saint Laurent. In the photograph Dovima appears poised and fearless, her sinuous contours echoing those of the massive pachyderms she seems to command.

In this photograph, Richard Avedon’s model Dovima is wearing a black Christian Dior dress with a white silk sash.

Texture - The smooth, silky fabric contrasts with the rough wrinkled skin of the elephant's. Her gesture and hand on the elephant’s trunk are meant to suggest a goddess-like ability to tame the beast.

Depth Of Field - The foreground is more in focus than the background. This makes your eyes focus more on the foreground.

Colour - This photograph is shot in black and white. Which brings out the details of the elephant's wrinkled skin and the contrast of details being very white to grey from the smooth white silk sash.

I had in mind to do an action shot with colourful ( Non-Toxic) Coloured Powder, inspired by their colourful and surreal Images.
I watched a few Youtube tutorials and set up my background in the back garden.

I used a black backdrop to make the colours from the powder look more vibrant. I placed a small jump infront of the background to make the dogs look like they were flying.
My daughter had plenty of treats as a reward when they jumped over the jump. My assistant (daughter) poured the Coloured Powder on the dogs back, making sure not to get any on, or near their face. I took a few shots to make sure I had the composition and settings correct on my camera.

I was a few feet away, laying flat on the floor with a fast shutter speed to freeze the motion and using natural light. I didn't want too much light on the subjects faces with the background being so dark.
I enhanced the colours in Light Room by increasing the vibrance and saturation.
The jump was removed in photoshop using a combination of the patch, lasso and clone tool in Photoshop. I am very pleased with the end result.

If I was to do this again, I would place a light facing the backdrop with a coloured gel to enhance the coloured powder and possibly more powder although it was tricky to get it all to stay on before they jumped.

I was very surprised from the feedback i got, it seems using coloured powder shoots on animals, is a bit like marmite. You're either for it or against it.
When searching, I haven't found any scientific evidence that proves non-toxic powder is harmful to animals.

The idea was to build the burger up to make it look much bigger than it actually was.
I stacked the cheese, onion, tomato and lettuce to give the burger more hight and depth and brushed some oil on the burger & bun, we also used a cocktail stick to keep everything in place.

We used a low-key light setting with black board around the burger, with a square cut out to allow some side light. I think this helps to focus the viewers eyes straight to the burger.
I used a deep depth of field to ensure the whole burger was in focus. I set up my tripod at the correct hight that I wanted and placed my camera on top facing directly towards the burger.

1/6 sec
I chose an aperture of F/7.1 as I wanted to make sure all my subject was in focus.
I used a slow shutter speed to allow more light in and an ISO of 100 to make sure the image wasn't grainy.

Dennis Prescott is one of the most famous food photographers in the industry. He is Canadian and also a chef and cookbook author.

This image shows a well stacked burger, I like the way it looks fresh, like its just been made, with the cheese melting over the burger. Also giving the image a pop of colour combined with the tomato, red onion and vibrant green lettuce. I researched the internet on how to use table lights, to light your subject.
This is a drawing of a wine bottle on a table with black velvet cloth & clear perspex on top.
I placed my back drop behind the subject and my torch led light behind the back drop, raised on a chair.
I used each light individually so I could see where the lights/highlights were hitting the subject.
I then placed a further Light either side of the subject, moving them up and down, taking shots in-between to see where the lights/highlights were hitting.
I then held a led torch over the top of the wine bottle to add more light and placed a small torch, with a paper snoot attached, to add more light to the bottles label.
I also placed white foam board either side of my subjects to reflect more light. I used an aperture of f/16 for a deeper depth of field. I used a wider angel lens so i could get closer to the subject. My camera was placed on a tripod facing directly at the subjects.

Product Photography is one of the most demanding yet biggest industries right now. Brands who want to list their products on eCommerce websites often hire photographers, specifically those specialized in Amazon product photography, to help them show the best of their products. The rise of online marketplaces, such as Amazon, has created a massive need for high-quality product images that effectively showcase the features and benefits of sold items.

Commercial product photography is usually done in a studio in front of a white background, but the correct object placement around the subject can enhance the overall appeal. One must be familiar with the lighting and how to use it properly.

The main light is coming from above with a scrim to diffuse the light, with another light & scrim to the side of the products to highlight the side of the compacts. With two spot lights to the side focusing on the blusher in the compact, a white card was placed inside the lid of the compact to fill in some shadow. Another spot light added to focus on the lipstick.
Another scrim roll was added with a light box to feather some light to the side of the lipstick and brush.

The lights have been placed to focus on the main subject. I like the way the beam of light acts as a leading line through the bottle.

I guided my client to my online portfolio so she could see my style of work. When my client was happy to go ahead, I asked if she could put her dog on a slip lead, which is easy to take on and off or if the lead has to stay on, its easier to edit out in photoshop. I also asked if my client could bring Phoebe's favourite treats. This helps to keep the dogs engaged.
We arranged a time and I made sure I was their early to do a risk assessment, making sure the area was clean and tidy to avoid anyone tripping or anything causing us harm.

I used my correct camera bag for carrying my equipment - Rucksack
I wore suitable clothing to keep warm and dry with sturdy footwear and a drink.
In case of an emergency I took my mobile phone and money.
I made sure my battery in my camera was charged the night before and also brought a spare, along with 2 SD cards.
I interacted with Phoebe before I started shooting, just so she was comfortable around me and the camera.

During the shoot I used my Canon 1300d
Lens - 50mm f/1.8 which I like for Portrait shots.
I had my aperture around F/2.5 to achieve a shallow depth of field
My Shutter Speed was 1/1250 sec so I could avoid my pictures being blurred from Phoebe's movements.

After the shoot, I made sure all equipment was stored away correctly.
When I got back home I removed the SD card and uploaded my photo's onto the computer.

When editing my photo's I made sure I had regular brakes and looking away from the computer from time, to time.
I made sure my seat was adjusted to the right height, used my footrest and wrist rest, with regular stretching.

I edited my photo's in Light Room first, Increasing exposure, reducing highlights, adding texture and clarity.
In photoshop I removed Phoebe's lead and her owner. using the move tool, patch tool and clone stamp tool.
I then finished off in Lightroom by adding a small Vignette.

Clients Feedback
My client was very pleased with her photograph's, she even took on board some of the process I went through. e.g getting down to the dogs level and trying to avoid background distractions. She sent me a couple of photo's she took of Phoebe, saying thank you for my advice.

I'm really pleased with the result, but in hindsight, I should of made sure my rucksack was out of sight and that my client was stood more to the left. That way I wouldn't have had to do as much in post process.

I was able to synced all my images together, so they had a similar tone.
Then I removed Phoebe's lead in Photoshop. I reduced the clarity and texture on my client, so Phoebe stands out more and used a radial gradient around Phoebe's head. This allows your eyes to focus on Phoebe first, as your eyes are drawn to the lightest/brightest part of an image.

My client is very pleased with all her images.

In hindsight, I do think if I'd increased my exposure slightly before taking the photo, I could off retained more of the data on Phoebe.
