Since Singapore is a small country, we rely heavily on trades and open markets. We can't afford to isolate ourselves from the world. By making friends with many countries, Singapore won’t have to rely too much on just one big country. This is important because in today’s world, relationships between countries can change very quickly. Having many partners helps us stay safe and steady no matter what happens around us.

staying engaged with other countries helps singapore stay relevant on the global stage. though being a small country, being a part of regional and international organisations be it ASEAN or united nations lets us play the role of constructive role. it allows us to be seen as reliable, consistent that builds trust. through this, we can get a seat at the table and contribute to discussions, decisions that would be more likely to be dominated by larger and more powerful countries.

Singapore is still a small country, and anything can happen to us in the future. The resources we have now all came from different parts of the word. Without them, Singapore will have to suffer. Singapore needs to engage the world even more is to build trust and friend, minimums the conflict from different country. For example, like how China and USA is having a conflict now such us raising the tariffs on all country. Singapore is still affected by the tariffs 10% however, the tariff rate is the lowest compared to other country since Donald Trump say that Singapore is safe. To engage in the world even more is to prevent heavy tariffs in future from different country and get help also.

Singapore should engage with other countries even more because our survival and success depend on strong global partnerships. As a small nation, we cannot rely on size or military might, so we build strength through credibility, consistency, and by maintaining diverse relationships. By staying neutral, championing international rules, and being seen as a trusted partner, Singapore protects its interests and stays relevant in a world of shifting alliances and rising tensions.

Singapore’s foreign policy principles helps itself to align with the interests of more powerful global players, helping it avoid being perceived as an easy target for invasion or being economically underestimated. Instead, positioning Singapore as a "neutral meeting ground" or a "stable economic hub," making it an attractive destination for establishing foreign company headquarters and encouraging foreign investment. Examples like the historic Kim-Trump summit and Dyson’s decision to set up its headquarters in Singapore demonstrate the confidence that those major powers place in SG, whom are willing to invest significantly or even host critical diplomatic events

In times of uncertainty like this, it is even more important for Singapore to engage other countries. Singapore is a small country, and we can easily be stepped on by bigger countries that think we are not important. We also do not have natural resources or much land. By having many different countries as our allies and strengthening our ties with them, we can show that Singapore is successful and still relevant to the world despite being small. By respecting international laws and supporting a rules-based order, we show that Singapore believes in fairness and that small countries like us deserve to be treated equally. This way, we can build trust with other countries, stand firm when facing pressure, and always act in Singapore’s best interest.

In times of uncertainty, such as the global tariffs hike imposed by the U.S. in April 2025, it is important for Singapore to engage other countries even more actively. I feel that anything can happen at any time in today’s unpredictable world, and no country can face challenges alone. That is why it is crucial for Singapore to build strong ties with as many partners as possible

By strengthening our relationships with many countries, we can better protect our economy and create more opportunities for trade, investment, and cooperation. This also gives us more options and flexibility if any one country becomes less reliable or if new risks arise. Engaging widely also makes Singapore more resilient and ensures that we stay connected and relevant to the global community, no matter how the situation changes.

Therefore, during uncertain times, building more friendships and partnerships it is necessary for Singapore’s survival and long-term success.

Singapore needs to engage with other countries instead of relying of a certain country. Reason is cause Singapore is a country with about 5 mil people and lets say if 1 part of the main supply for example toilet paper is cut off, then there would be less toilet paper and people will scatter all around to buy as many as possible, but let's say Singapore has various supply lines, there wouldn't be a panic for supply as there is more than enough demands.

In uncertain times, it is all the more vital for Singapore to actively engage other countries to protect its interests and its future. Guided by its five foreign policy principles: protecting sovereignty, maintaining good relations with all, upholding international law, strengthening ASEAN, and taking a realistic long-term approach. Singapore ensures it remains resilient and relevant by promoting a rules based order and diversifying relationships globally. Singapore prevents over reliance on any single power and secures its position in an unpredictable world. Singapore fortifies itself by establishing trust, being consistent, and engaging a multitude of partners. Its reputation for honesty and reliability makes it a preferable partner for many nations, while consistent policymaking makes it a stabilizing force even when the world seems to be upending itself. Strengthening and broadening ties with a diverse array of partners boosts Singapore’s strategic options and makes it better able to deal with whatever difficulties the future holds.

In uncertain times, it’s even more important for Singapore to strengthen ties with other countries. As a small nation that relies heavily on imports, we depend on strong international relationships to keep things running smoothly. One of the key principles behind Singapore’s foreign policy is being a reliable and consistent partner. By sticking to our commitments, even when times are tough, we show the world that we can be trusted. This earns the assurance of other countries and builds our reputation as a dependable partner. Over the long term, this helps Singapore avoid over-dependence on any one country, giving us greater stability. It also offers protection against economic shocks and opens up more options for trade, investment, and diplomatic support.

When countries like the US raise tariffs, it makes the world economy more unstable therefore Singapore needs to work even harder to make friends with other countries so it can keep trading and growing. Making more friends by working with more countries so Singapore won’t be stuck if one country (like the US) makes things difficult. By strengthening ties with a wide range of countries, Singapore reduces its reliance on any single market (like the US) and opens up more trade opportunities elsewhere. This helps protect its economy against shocks and keeps its options open
