Today 21 august
we had class with teacher Ana and Monique, about painting.
first we started by looking at some drawings of Picasso and others artists to see the way that they draw with crayon and nanquim, and after that we had to draw with crayon, it was pretty hard for me because I get really dirty, and the fact that we don't have tables made the whole exercise fell a lot more difficult, at least for me.
but anyway I like the challenge but the process was more fun than the actually the results.

after that we did a negative drawing of our objects, that I felt that the result was pretty good, after all I have already done that at pre-fad. then we made composition drawings, that was very interesting because it make you see the objects with other eyes.

and finally came a model and we made a painting of her, today was very cool but challenging, I still have a lot to train on human body drawing, the head in my drawing still very disproportion compared to the rest of the body. but it was a very cool experience to try painting in nanquim, and now I will for sure try to paint more this way to improve myself, I really like this class and the new experiences that we had today.

today 22 august
perspective drawing
This morning soon when we arrived to class, Cézar along Henry introduced themselves, them made us split into two groups. I got to stay with Cézar, displaying a slideshow about photography, where the its principles where introduced to us.

After the introduction, it was proposed to us a task that consisted on photographing our objects, having the concepts of deep depth of field and shallow depth of field in mind (disfocus on everything else and focus on the first object, then repeating the process on each object).

On this evening, we’ve now started to work with perspectives, being very well introduced.

I’ve not only learned that there are not only more than one point perspective, since until now nothing has had my head closer to a nutcracker like this subject has done on three hours and a half. We had to draw an 1 or 2 point perspective illustration, using the learned concept we just had been given.

This instrument is used when composing color illustrations, it is a quick guide with which we can easily identify complementary colors, analogs, half-complements, and other possible harmonic combinations and helps us discover combinations, comparisons and etc.

And after that we learned about Henry Matisse, that is one of my favorites artists, i really like him because of the colors that he use in his paintings, it’s different of all i have ever seen, and the way that he expresses the human kind in a very unique way.

And after that we made some color tests using acrilics, i enjoyed alot because in my work i use alot of color so for me studying this helped me to understand some combinations and compositions that made alot of sense for me, i hope to work alot with what i have learned today.

today 27 august

we had to separate the groups in 3, and i got in the 3.º group that supposed to start at the library.
in the morning we basically study who to do research, what is the questions that you have to do to get the answers you need like: why, how, when, what.

and in the afternoon we went to a gallery “fortes” to see some paintings, and when we get there and i saw the first painting i already new that i would like the exposition, because the technique that we was using really facinates me, he use alot of paint, making a lot of layers, and it gives texture to the painting, that i really try to get in my work, and the fact that we use vibration colors that i like because it makes me feel warm and are more fascinating for me.

about what is drow in the painting is mostly people connecting with nature, the sun is in almost every paint and when there’s no sun, there’s a moon.

but in some paintings it seems like the nature it’s “getting revenge”, because the sun is burning people and it could be a criticism about global warming.

after that we went to the “ Milan” gallery, and the first impression that i had was that i didn’t like it.

it was a wite room wit pieces of cast making geometric forms.

i think that we had a very big contrast of the gallery that we were before because here we don’t have alot of collor, but then i started to look at the pieces that make a reflection that fit exactly with the piece above, it has a perfection in the way that the fit that brought confort to my eyes.

i still miss the color in the pieces because for me color complete the work, but i ended liking the work, mostly because of the shapes.

and final but not least we went to the gallery “ bolsa arte” that my first impression was that the gallery was very comfortable because of the art of Elisa, she made art with seep whool, so for me her intentions were to create like a “ confort” zone, the way that she was putting the light ( king for a yellow light not white) made me feel like i was in a womb, i really like her work mostly because of the material that she uses, but my favorite one was a lamp made of seep whool.

We walk alot today and im very tired but it was great to meet all of this artists and their work, and i will try to visit more gallery’s.

today 28 august

today we had the class with Carlos, to teach us how to do monoprint, that is a technique that you put a ink in a glass, then you have to make a very thin layer, and then you put a paper on top of it and draw, so the in will " glue" on the back of the paper, making only on copy, that's why its called monoprint.

the firsts ones dint worked very well because it was mo much ink, but in the time that I was doing the 3 one was already great, to what I realised is that what can really make your life easier is if in the benign you spread the paint well, to the first one that you do work out.

I really loved this new way of drawing, I think that is really amazing to do a thing only one time, make it feels special for me.
( and you can use the negative but it makes a total other drawing and effect.)
I think I will use this technique in my work again
, I just need a glass table :) hahahah

the monoprint was fun, but the stencil..... mannnnnn
I just think this class changed my whole perspective of life in art, we learned how to to stencils, and my first one was one of my crystals, that's why it had to be related to the collector project.

the process for me is kind off hard because iam not very patient so I don't like waiting very much for something to get ready, but I just was in love with the outcome, and when I sprayed for the first time using stencil I can't explain how happy I was.

when I got home I was to exited to do more that I ask my mom and she gave me some x-rays, in the same day I stay awake the whole night doing tests, trying out stuff, in the and I had a lot of amazing stencils and I am very excited to do it on the streets.

Why you use so much purple?
Because my favourite crystal is the ametista, that is a purple crystal, so when I do a work about crystals I think this colour is automatically related.

I think this critic was an very good experience and I really think I will improve a lot my work by practicing this.

Today, September 10

Today we were asked to bring thinks that you can use to do a “ filter” for a camera, so in the previous day I brought a lot of acetate colours, and my idea was to but in front of the camera with some sort of material that I still didn’t know what it was going to be.

So I was walking on the street and I saw a coaster, and I thought that if I did a hole in the middle I could put the acetate in that and put in the camera, so I got one and did it, but the finishing were not very good, because i use tape. So I did another model.

In the second model I use a stapler to fix the acetate with the coaster, and it looked better than the one before, but not perfect yet.

So I did another model, a cut the papel in two with a hole in the middle, and glued the two parts with the acetate in the middle, and then it was a lot more lighter, because I made four holes in the corners of the square and put four toothpicks, so I could put several filters and change them.

I really liked the outcomes of it, for me was a very good experience because I really like photography, and I think I will use those filters for my future projects.

today, October 3

Today we were all ready with our instruments, so we had all day to "learn" how to play our instruments, make a band and then record.
I loved testing my instrument, it has a very incredible sound delicacy and I was very happy with its results.
My band was Thom, Nicole and Bruna.
Nicole and I had instruments with more similar sounds, while Thom and Bruna had more percussion sounds.

In deciding the name we chose “pretricor”, which means the smell of rain, and soon tenths that our “music” was going to be about rain, and so it was, we made an incredible sound intrepretando a coming cloud, then it starts to rain slowly, and as she goes by gets stronger and then she goes away again.
I found the concept very cool too, I love rain and being able to interpret it was amazing, everyone who heard the song could understand that it was a rain grandson I think we could reach our goal.

and them I realised that for my next task that was to do a graphic score it was going to be very easy, so a I grabbed a roll of paper and put it in the no and started dripping blue gouache paint on the paper, making it feel like it was rain coming, lighter on the edges and more "full of rain" in the middle.
and I really loved the result.

today, October 7
Today we started a new project: zines!
Zines are independent, nonprofessional magazines for various purposes. The term zine came from fanzine, fan magazine agglutination - literally “fan magazine” - initially popularized as a means of disseminating artwork, literary, musical or any particular culture, from fan to fan.
The purpose is to be as original as possible. There is no recipe, or right and wrong. It is very important to open up to experimentation. It's your business.

There is no rule, this is the coolest part in my opinion, because for me that is a lot of freedom to create, and for me this is very important.

After being introduced to zines we had to think about what we would do our zines, and then I made a mind map to decide what I would do, because I had a lot of ideas, but I knew if I wanted to talk about politics, random vibes or about poetry.

But anyway I am very looking forward to this project!

today, October 8
Day of generations of ideas, today was the day to think about what we would do our zines, I was still not sure what I would say, but was very eager to decide and start producing. We did a brainstorming exercise that was to write 30 ideas in 10 minutes. It was great because exercising the brain is very good for unlocking creativity, and I was pretty indecisive, so after that exercise I was sure: I would talk about poetry. Poetry for me are velvet words that fill the heart with happiness, I'm a big fan of poetry and I've always been very emotional about a lot of poets, so now I needed to do a difficult task, choose an author and a poetry to put in my zine. But first I thought, “But how would I illustrate this? What material will I use to make this zine? It blocked me for a long time, I still don't know which material to use so I will test as much as possible.

Today, October 9

Today I had my first zine ready, I did one with a poetry by Cecilia Meireles, talking about the autumn leaves, and to me that was very much related to the oshibana technique of collage with real leaves, and the result was very beautiful and sentimental and I was very happy. So I was calmer and thought I could do another zine, so I started thinking more about what I would like to talk about, and at the same time I was full of ideas but couldn't relate to the posters I wanted to sell, in the market. of the mushrooms I made with stencil, so I thought I could do something more related to psychedelic stuff, and then I started thinking about psychedelic stuff and it came into my mind the 60s, and Woodstock, and LSD. But I didn't just want to do traveling illustrations, I like things that carry history, so I started thinking about how I could do this, but I already knew what I'd like to do.

today, November 7
Today we meet at the Mendes wood gallery,
Arriving there we entered the exhibition of Anna Boghiguian, who is an Egyptian-born artist and she calls herself a nomad, and her artwork is very interesting and in this exhibition she had done the artistic intro of a text by Clarice Lispector, which was very exciting given the fact that I love poetry.

The second artist is Mimi Lauter
Who is an American artist who makes abstract art with pastel chalk, I found the textures of his work more interesting, he does not put glass in the paintings to be able to pass exactly the textures and even the smell of the paintings.

And arriving at ebac we were introduced to a new project, which is required for us a 3D sculpture that moves or intends to move.

I already enjoyed this work very much and was very interested in how I could do it, and then I came across a work that I really like the Helio ocicica that are the Parangolés, an outfit that you move into, is a work of art in motion, meant to be used on the body, and so that's what I thought of, something that involves the movement of human beings as with dancing or with the energy of nature as the wind.

today, November 8
Idea generation Today when I arrived I was very sure that I would like to do something related to body, wind, cloths .. so I thought it would be through the dance that I would express doing the Parangolés, but today with Henry I started thinking, What if it was a dance without a body? So I started to develop dance and body ideas, and how could I talk about dance without a body, is the body crucial to what I want to talk about? So I started thinking about transparent cloths and how transparency will be needed. So my idea is still taking shape but it will be (hopefully) something like a fan with some rags tied and dancing as the wind, but I was researching and in the museum of tomorrow there is a sculpture that is several mini fans forming a circle and in the There is a cloth floating around, which made me fully consider the fact that the cloth is stuck, so maybe I can reread that work, sometimes talking about life and the movement of life, of inconstancy. I'm still not sure what I'm going to talk about the certainties I have is that movement covers a lot for me body and dance and I think the material that I think goes well is the fabric.

When all this corona virus started, I was already feeling that it would change the way we live a lot, and soon it would change our reality and the art.
When I talk about quarantine I can only think of missing you, but as the memories are not reliable, I decided to make a small “quarantine diary”, because I always wrote my feelings a lot, but this habit was lost in time and now in this phase from the quarantine I’ve been eager to write, perhaps due to the fact that we’re having to deal with our thoughts and loneliness, but anyway, I think it will be a good way to remember what that phase was like, from beginning to end end of quarantine, and how it affected me and affected my art.

I'm reading a lot of articles about how the brain reacts to being connected to a greater force, but how spirituality changes a lot from person to person, various parts of the brain are affected, science cannot locate a specific region in the brain where the self is located, as we do with memory or anger. The idea that there is a space in the brain where the self, or our consciousness, is hidden does not make any anatomical or scientific sense. Thus, if consciousness is not a limited space, it can be altered or expanded. Spirituality is this transcendence of the self.

During meditation, the mind wanders to so many places. Once Sri Sri said, "Let the mind go where it wants to go." Does that mean that my mind and I are different entities? If so, then what is the mind and who am I?
When you try to control your mind, you run here and there. When you become aware of the wandering mind, then you realize that you are greater than the great mind.
Then you realize that you are not the mind, it is not this body, it is not anything else, what remains is the Being.
And in knowing yourself, you can recognize the Supreme Being. So, you think you discover that you are everything. You are the mind, the thoughts. You are the whole world, but what happens on the second level? When you know yourself, you know the divine. Everything is a deity. Knowing this, it is established in that knowledge.

in ancient Greece and its mythology that the most significant records about the phenomenon emerged. According to her, the rainbow was formed whenever the goddess Iris, herald of the gods, deity responsible for communicating mortals about important events, came down to Earth to do her work. The rainbow was a sign that the goddess passed through Earth and brought some divine message, leaving a trail of colors across the skies that she crossed.
The rainbow was, in Greek mythology, a sign of communication between men and the gods. The strength of the mythological explanation was so strong, that we see that the rainbow got its name because of mythology.

Buddhism and enlightenment

The rainbow body is a concept in Tibetan Buddhism, which means one of the maximum levels of illumination when everything starts to turn into pure light. The rainbow body precedes the state of nirvana, being the last stage of enlightenment in consciousness before it.
In the same way that the spectrum contains all possible manifestations of light and color, the body of the rainbow means the awakening of the inner self to terrestrial knowledge, that is, the perception of the totality of material reality and spiritual origin that surrounds us.
In addition to the rainbow body, in Buddhism we have one more reference to this spectacle of nature: after being enlightened, Buddha descended from the heavens using a seven-color ladder, that is, a rainbow as a bridge between the worlds

After one to one tutorials with Cezar, I was encouraged to experiment with the movement concepts I had in mind since last week. Doing it intuitively, only to visualize and materialize those thoughts, . It was too light to keep moving, so I had to push the back and forth-like movement with my hands. I liked the light flow of the earrings although I still need something heavier to make it work. I also made some documentations with it using the shadows the pendulum made on the floor with a source of light above it. It looked more misterious, and obscure.
I used an old kodak digital camera to do so, with B&W effect. There's also a set of pictures describing its movement, focusing on the matter itself (earrings, colos, light and string).

On this day I'm focusing on research. For many weeks I was kinda ignoring past interests in the making of the project, instead of uploading different medias of inspiration and study.
In order to this, I used my afternoon to research artists both from KM activities classes as well as from my brief.
It helped me to start a path of practical ideas, and I'm now planning to make a sculpture with a small staircase - placing different symbols on each level.

I also need to look over more objects, lights and create shootings or videos that represent this idea of spirituality and all kinds of behavior it can involve, such as dealing with ego, patience, peace, energy etc.
I still haven't started these further steps, but I'm planning to use and experiment more with candles and crystals.

There is more research to be done, the website documentation/experimentation to do.
Besides studying artists for inspiration, I also need to research materials and availability to use on a sculpture. I'm even thinking about showing a video mixing the still media of a sculpture with moving images that reveal sides of what each level from the staircase can represent.

Today I had a talk with Lauren about my project concept. Since I was quite out of rhythm lately, the absence of work was making things hard to be put on track, specially with the many concepts I wrote on my Project’s Concept.

At first I thought there would be more pros than cons, since even though the contextualization is complex, it merges everything I would like to propose/work with. Doing the list, I realized that for every con I had a pro - which is not a bad signal, I planned to make an immersive installation/space along with the need to curate ideas a bit more. Too many topics where at first a ‘mind blowing’ feeling, but now that I actually have to make them tactile, felt, seen, it’s revealing to be a lot of information.

I realized the problem is not with the themes, but on how I should approach them. Refining ideas and paths are now my goal. I will keep doing a broad research until the next two weeks, so after going through many places I can decide where I fit best.

I had some objects that went into my mind about possible ways and symbols to keep my concept and content going. I thought about metal, prism, pendants and a pendulum. Something that calls suspension, at the same time trustable but worrying if something goes wrong. Like a relationship and its paranoias. These things are slightly calling me during the last couple of days. I think they all can relate to Ambipolarity, spirit and journey of my project's content.
Thinking about this, I remembered Ernesto Neto's exhibition at Pinacoteca (2019), specially a crochet vest that supported 3 people at once, each one on an extreme of the piece. They would all support each other by body weight and position, and if one left the relation and balance is also absent.

Light Project
The theme Spirituality is very stimulating and organic for me,
I believe that at the beginning of this journey I did not know what was waiting for me, but in the creative process of this project, after some reflections the light came to me as a raw material, because in moments like the one we are in now, it is still accessible to all of us , the light is always around us.
To "illuminate" my project, I sought inspiration in us humans and our journey through time.
Through the broad and deep views of history, science, philosophy and religious mysticism.
In each survey, I developed my outlook on spirituality.
in the early days: the light of fire and its strong influence on our evolution.
The human fascination with the sun, a great incandescent star in its magnitude, was a symbol and source of divine light in countless religions and is a great archetype of divine until today, the heat and brightness of the sun, the father of every color is also the most white light Newton talks about when studying the prisms and the spectrum of colors, that exist in this magnificent sunlight.
And when I wanted to know what the philosophers thought about this divine sunlight, I read about Espinosa that says everything I believe, that God IS nature, he is the sunlight, the air, the trees, he is everything around us , because God is in everything, and that puts me in a position where I find more ground to be able to affirm what I already felt, I just needed to know how to pass it on to people so that they would feel what I feel, so I continued to seek the spiritual connection with the sunlight and found numerous architectural projects that have also used the sun as an inspiration, since ancient times, civilizations use sunlight to illuminate special points of the temples, pulpit and altars radiating through the light the power of the supernatural.
In Gothic architecture, cathedrals and their charming stained glass windows, and countless other spiritual temples.
In other words, since the beginning, all religions have hailed nature as the source of greater divine connection, be it as the garden of Eden, or the Egyptians with the Ha (sun), all religious figures hailed nature as sacred, as mother of all purity and strength.
When developing the project, I followed an intuitive line with nature, I looked for the tree of life, the model for the support structure of the prisms, as an analogy to the journey from life to enlightenment.
In the geometry of the prisms and their meanings, each prism star has an archetype behind it, bringing also to each prism its own energy, and in them joining materials of great reflection of light: glass and water.
I believe that this project made me research a lot about the historical line of light and the connection with spirituality in general, and with that I affirm within myself that light has always been present, and always will be.
