         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Voter turnout for midterm elections was higher than the turnout for presidential elections in the late 1700s and the early 1800s<br>- People believe that this is because the country has grown in size and that citizens no longer have a close relationship with their representatives<br>- People tend to pay much more attention to the presidential election since they are voting for one person that will control an entire branch of government<br>- Democrats tend to do poorer in midterm elections since people at the age of retirement tend to vote Republican.
