Adding to that, the society has to be selective and implement critical thinking whenever encountering any news from any source of media. Why? This is simply to avoid any miscommunication and contradiction of facts that could possibly lead towards violence in action among some people. Media has both the advantages and the disadvantages, therefore it is our responsibility to use sagaciously.

True, that media brings a lot of advantage to us human in this modernize world since the beginning. But in this writing I want to push on the bad side of the media.

While in the past, people used media for the purposed mentioned in the first paragraph, nowadays, media is used as a tool to manipulate society into believing not the truth but lies. Media is used to cover up all the ugly truths and add some sprinkles to make it seems beautiful on the outside and acceptable. Anything that is not needed to bring out the outcome they expected will be cropped out.

The media is not a reflection of reality and we have to be aware of this. Be cautious with whatever that are shown or written in media. Media supposed to make it easier for information to travel from people to other people. However, the information while travelling are being edited by some irresponsible people. This resulting in receivers of the information to dig up about the news they receive by themselves and lastly make their own decision about which they choose to believe.

Many examples can be seen be it in politics or entertainment. I find this to be very troublesome when I could not even decide for myself whether to trust news that I read or watch.

On the bright side, media can be used as a powerful tool for communication, spreading of information and/or knowledge, business purposes, entertainment and etc. The gap or barrier of communication has been reduced as people all around the world are able to communicate with each other via texts or social medias such as Whatsapp, Facebook, and etc. Information are literally at the touch of one’s fingers, with the existence of the internet and smartphones. Hence, people are able to keep update of current news or issues that are going on around the world. 

On the dark side, the information that are shared by the media’s can easily be twisted and misleading as there are many of those who misuse it for variety of purposes such as political propagandas, spreading of false rumours, scams, and etc. Hence, individuals who do not filter or check those information carefully, and simply taking it as it is without much awareness or critical thinking are vulnerable or will easily fall prey into those type of situations.  

Therefore, it is very essential for us to be aware of the media’s that were are feeding our thoughts to, checking the information and thinking critically about it before forming any sorts of perspectives or views, understanding how powerful the medias can be and use it for good purposes whilst still being aware of the cons.

Ads, writing and other media element are meant to have intention. Like how they display good food, they meant to get hooking attention of people to be the buyer. That is just an example of non-controversial things but what about controversial? Confidence and trust toward media depend on how the receiver interpret it. Every messages, writing and ads give its own purpose and it doesn’t mean it give or provide truth. Some are just mean to be a coax or intimidating. Therefore, receiver should think beyond the seen and think of every possibility of the unrevealed intention of the sender.

However, violation of media could give massive headaches too. As it is the fastest way to deliver information, gossip or rumors could be spread in a matter of seconds too. Cyber-bullying makes people feels bad about themselves. In our daily life, everything that we do has pros and cons. As media influences us in everything we do, think wisely before we make every decision. Once you did a small mistake, everyone will start to think negative about you.

Media can bring a positive and negative impact to our society. People the one who need to think wisely before they are trusting some issue or information. 

 The various forms of media – primarily television, newspapers and radio – spread and disseminate information. Getting your information into the media will spread your group's story further than it could be spread without media coverage.

Developing critical thinking skills is fundamental to all learning, and indeed to learning to learn – a key competence all citizens need in order to succeed in lifelong learning throughout their personal and professional lives. Teaching about and through media is one effective way of developing students’ critical thinking skills. In today’s media-rich environment, we need to develop a wider set of skills to help us understand the messages around us and effectively utilize these tools to design and distribute our own messages. Being literate in a media age requires critical thinking skills that empower us to make informed decisions, whether in the classroom, the living room, the workplace, or the voting booth.
