After a couple of years leading Beyond Zero in Leeds, Rob is stepping down as our lead as it is difficult for him to dedicate the time as he mainly based in York. Thanks to Rob for making a difference in the last couple of years. Our new lead will be Alex Tomczyk who will be reconvening our Beyond Zero team and focusing on some key messages.

Mental ill health remains one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide, but too often, we fail to address it, talk about it, or invest in preventing it. One Million Lives is a tool developed by Jacobs, designed as a countermeasure to tackle mental ill health and secure wellbeing. By doing either a full or daily check-in every day, week or month, you are able to test the state of your mental health and understand the steps required to improve it. Furthermore, the tool can be used by members outside of Jacobs including family and friends.

Members of our team demonstrated their passion and commitment on how we strive to challenge today and reinvent tomorrow. This included a discussion on the Kibiraro Bridge project in Rwanda, that Aleksandra Tomczyk volunteered for last summer. The 2nd Floor re-opening is a hallmark to the increase in Jacobs regional operation and capacity across West Yorkshire. With the possibility of welcoming future guests, we are able to share our legacy across Leeds and beyond.

Our lovely facilities team have spent a long time labelling desks and setting up each station with the necessary equipment, however some people are finding that their desk is not as expected when they arrive. If you find this happens to you, please report it to Facilities (now on the 2nd floor) so they can manage this rather than taking equipment from another desk, or moving to another desk without updating your booking on Comfy.
    Please note that if you would like your co-workers to see where you have booked a desk, you must change your settings on Comfy under 'Your Preferences' to show your location. By default, this is turned off.

    Additionally, to ensure the safety of our co-workers and company information, we ask that everyone is mindful of the risks of piggybacking and tailgating, which are tactics used by unauthorised people to enter restricted locations. These people may blend in and/or claim to have legitimate reason to be there.     Some common symptoms are:
    • Feelings of depression 
    • Tiredness / Low energy
    • Loss of interest in activities
    • Changes in appetite / Weight gain
    • Over sleeping

    Ease it by:
    • Get regular exercise, a daily walk in daylight is ideal
    • Open the blinds, make your work environment light and airy
    • Eat a healthy balanced diet
    • Get more Vitamin D
