Jim tried to persuade McCandles to not try to go into the wilderness as he thought McCandles was underprepared and wouldn't make it out alive (p.7) with only a backpack that didn't weigh more than 25lbs and a small hunting rifle that would only tickle a bear nevertheless McCandles was determined (p.6). Jim Gallien was going to stop the foolhardy(p.5) kid and tell the state troopers but thought if McCandles had any sense when things got harsh (p.4) he could just walk back to the freeway and find a ride or walk to the nearest restaurant.

Analysis: I admire McCandles Bravery in taking up a challenge and never relying on taking the easy way but with that, I think McCandles is underestimating the Alaskan wilderness and is lacking some common sense.

The only times I was really in nature were when I was on vacation visiting places or the one time I went Glamping. If I was put into a situation where I had to forge for survival I think I would just try to enjoy my last 24hours on the earth.

I do love to go on vacations with my family where we visit different parks and places in the world with beautiful nature. I've been to Hawaii and Two Nevada canyons and natural reserves. I loved the experience of exploring what nature has to offer and I hope to continue to do more as my life goes on.

On that morning (p. 13) a group of six men discovers the remains of Chris McCandless in his sleeping bag inside of the bus he called home for 4 months. One of the six men go back to the highway to call the State Troopers. The state troopers come the next day to take Chris's remains (p.13)  and most of his possessions that included his journal and many roles of picture film. the coroner examined Chris and found that because Chris was just 67lbs at his time of death that he likely died of starvation. Since Chris had long ridden of all forms of identification (p.14)  it was hard for the coroner to identify who Chris was. So now the race starts to find out who (p.14) the young 67lb hitchhiker was.

Analysis: I can't imagine the mental struggle he was going through he must have had so much regret and his weight being so little must have really taken a toll on him. I wonder if in his final days if he came to realization or if he thought it was all worth it.

The chapter begins when we were introduced to Wayne Westerberg who Picked up a random hitchhiker named Chris McCandles. Chris told Wayne he is looking to head towards Saco Hot Springs Wayne and Chris become good friends fast,Wayne describes Chris as a very outgoing guy who works hard and gets along with everyone. Soon enough Chris becomes like family to these new people and considers Carthage his new home(p.18). We learn more about Chris's backstory and his family back home. We find out about his poor relationships with his family and about the plot to start a new life after graduating. Chris leaves without telling anyone and donates his money to charity before he leaves.

Analysis: I don't quite understand Chris's need to leave all his family behind I'm sure if he explained himself he could have left on a good note. This chapter showed me, Chris, is a good guy and a good friend who wants to write his own journey and I hope things go well for him.

Analysis: This is where we really get to see his trait of running away when things get too complicated or people get too close. I wonder if he ever in the book will realize what he is doing and that he has this flawed trait.

Chris is excited to leave the car behind and begin his new path but shortly after he gets scammed by a man and is left stranded to make things worse he messes up and gives the police his real address when buying a hitchhikers ticket. As if his time couldn't get any more difficult he now has to dodge the police and his family so Chris escapes to Mexico. Chris is stranded in Mexico where he almost drowns. After being arrested reentering the united states he still has not given up and wants to continue his original plan.

Analysis: I think that Chris is actually insane now. Any normal person would have given in by now but I guess this isn't a normal person we are talking about.

Unlike Chris, Everett concentrates his trips in the southwest and just like Chris, he renames himself Nemo after Captain Nemo from Jules Verne's classic Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea .(I have no idea what that is from).we learn more about Ruess like when he vanishes while on a solo excursion in Utah, never to be seen or heard from again. while he was missing a search party is dispatched to find him, but Ruess is never seen again. they do end up finding his donkey, some cave drawings/graffiti he produced, and some of his stuff. Some assume that he was murdered by Native Americans which sounds reasonable while others speculate that he was a victim of his own reckless lifestyle and fell while trekking or drowned. Everett's death remains a mystery because no one ever located him or his remains. NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN.

Analysis: So it now seems like chris wasn't the only coco bird who set off to go on a adventure and never come out the wilderness. It seems to me that there is a coincidence and a common trait coming up when talking about people who do this sort of thing.... a lack of common sense.

Everything added up for the state troopers except for that Chris had been going by allies Alex McCandles. Important information is given back to the Alaskan state police that give them everything they need to confirm the body of the dead Hiker. Now we wait as Chris's brother goes to relay the terrible news to his family

Analysis: What a trail I would hate to be anyone in this chapter especially Chris because he is dead. The Alaskan troopers searched dead ends and worked tirelessly on the case and I can only imagine the sick feeling his family is about to feel when they find out the news.

Analysis: Chris's family really did love him and it is super sad what happened to Chris I'm starting to belive that Chris is stupid for doing what he did and being so selfish.

Analysis: WE LEARNED THE BIG WHY! this chapter is what makes the story understandable and explains why Chris left home to go pursue these wild dreams. I no longer think of Chris as some wacky weird Guy with no common sense, I see him now as a misguided kid who is lost in his family.

Analysis:This chapter explains why the author was so interested in this story because he can relate to chris and show people that Chris McCandles isn't crazy but just has his downfalls like himself.

Although this doesn't work and he ends up burning down a wall of his tent. After repairing the wall with a pile of snow he decides the only option for him to accomplish his goal would be to approach the mountain at a different angle. He sets off that morning on a mission one that he succeeded in doing to prove his father wrong. Krakauer and Chris McCandles are very similar both have fathers with cereal expectations of their sons both pushing away their sons and simply not being very good fathers. Krakauer realizes why Chris did what he did and why he went into the wild It's the same reason Krakauer climbed that mountain. This conveys Krakauer to write to convince people Chris did not plan on dieing nor was Chris crazy.

Analysis: I admire Krakauer for writing this book now It really goes to show who Chris Really is and after reading these past two chapters I realise Chris is not a bad guy or in the blame at all and Krakauer living through what Chris did but just surviving it made Chris seem more human.

Some of these include chris mentioning all of the game he hunted mostly consistent of squirels proqupine and even a MOOSE.  After being in the bush for a while Chris reads a line from one of his favorite books that says "True happiness is shared with others." Reading this Chris decides to head back to civilization. When Chris started to head back he comes back to the river which had now very fast and dangerous currents which could take Chris out. Chris makes the smart decision to head back to the camp but ends up dieing a couple days later due to seed poisoning and lack of meat due to him not being able to store the Moose Properly.

Analysis: Wow It all adds up and makes sense how Chris died a string of unfortunate events got to him. I think Chris was majorly unlucky and i'd hate to say it but maybe it was just fate he died in the bush

Once arriving at Chris's final resting place they feel that it would be weird and disrespectful to sleep in his final resting place. The camp outside and talk over Chris's journey and His experience being able to kill a Moose and tell the difference between a Moose and a Caribou. They think what Chris did was stupid but they very much respect the man and his need for a challenge.

Analysis: I think This does conclude that one thing is certain and that is everyone can learn something from Chris McCandles. I respect the man and am glad these men took the journey to learn and draw their own definitions about him.

Analysis: I really do feel for Chris I feel he was sad and struggled so much to get to where he was to just be put to rest so hard. I admire Chris for the final notes he wrote to put his family and loved ones to ease to help with their mourning he really is a good guy with a tragic flaw.

Walt and billie sit on their sons bed looking at his belongings some things from their old house and see all of his writing on the wall of the bus. The visit brings closure to both parents but they dont leave without leaving a first aid kit a note for the next travelers coming by and a bible. 

Analysis: I'm glad Chris's parents visited the bus and got some closure I'm sure it made Chris happy. I could only imagine the thoughts running through their heads as they soaked it all in.

Scientists figured out that there was a deadly compound that comes out of the seed when seasons change to help the plant from being eaten. This seed was edible though for most of the year so It is understandable why Chris thought they were okay to eat even at a top university the seeds aren't considered poisonous.

Analysis: Chris had a horrible string of bad luck and with his mal nutrition he stood no chance after being poisoned Hopefuly people now see that he wasn't some dumb guy that didn't know what he was doing but that anyone could of made that mistakes.

I Loved playing sports in ran in my blood basketball baseball and football runs in my family's blood and I've been playing ever since I was young. When I turned 12 I decided I wanted to quit playing baseball and start playing Football ever since that day I haven't looked back. I knew that football would soon be a dangerous sport when competing in high school but I loved the danger and the excitement that came with it. With tackle football there were things at stake you were risking your body for a common goal and that was to win. I loved winning but I didn't have much of it there was a string of disappointment for a while never being able to win a single game but that never stopped me. The excitement and everything the game brought with it made me fall in love.

Like Chris McCandless, My need for excitement and a challenge led me to the sport that I love the most. I can often relate to the challenges Chris faced in the book and like him, I'm stubborn to get something done once I have started it. My future goals intake of other dangerous and exciting work and I can't wait till I reach them so I can set new goals even more challenging then the last.

This book took me on a rolller coaster of emotions and left me asking questions after every chapter. The main character is a guy most can relate to yet with his own unique problems and challenges he faces in his life we can ll relate to his stuggle.

Good: Chris is genuinely a good guy who donates money to charity and chases a goal or a good challenge. Chris is a guy who is easy to get along with who is determined to set off and accomplish a goal that everyone from every perspective can respect. Chris never gives up no matter how big the setback or challenge.

Bad: Chris follows his dream but leaves a trail of hurt for anyone that grows an attachment with him. Chris was never afraid to just pick up and leave without saying goodbye. It didn't matter the situation or who he was with if he felt himself connecting with someone too deep he will leave. Chris also leaves a world of pain and worry for his parents who were;t the best but definitely didn't deserve all the sleepless nights.

In all, I support Chris McCandless and his decision to leave everything behind to chase his goal. I haven't always supported him though throughout the whole book I have hated him understood him and related to him. In all a great book and a crazy story.
