Representative democracy is when instead of voting for laws themself (citizens). Citizens vote for people that match their beliefs and morals. The Roman Republic had 3 branches, all 3 branches were balanced and they regularly had checks. Rome influenced the U.S constitution and U.S Bill of Rights. Also for laws and punishment to be fair, I think the Magna Carta is influential because it introduces new concepts not seen before or rarely seen before. The Magna Carta introduced limited government, rule of law, and due process. All of which is included in the U.S constitution.
