Some people may already have this drive, like Bill Gates and Bill Joy, and this may appear to be natural talent; however, some may find a large motivation to get in 10,000 hours of practice when they are recognized for being “naturally skilled”. For instance, I think that the elite hockey players born in later months of the year must have had extreme drive to practice hockey since they didn’t have a “relative age” advantage.

I agree with what Betsy said about how the diction of “merely good” when describing musicians has an effect on Gladwell’s argument on what success looks like. I think it highlights the fact that outliers must go the extra mile to achieve mastery and not just be slightly accomplished at their profession. An example of this is how Gladwell discusses the requirement to do 10,000 hours which is an unbelievable amount of time, but also necessary in order to be noticed in a competitive environment.

Responding to Aryanas question on the Jewish image it’s and the wealthy family’s. I think its all based of opportunity’s both groups had opportunity’s that carved a path towards their success. I believe Gladwell is trying to say is everyone has opportunity’s but it wont matter unless you take that opportunity and build from it..
