If you do not know why he had done this it is because  he wanted his army to win so that is why.
Now, I will tell you a little about what kind/ what taxes he put on the colonists. The most popular one known to people is the tea act or the stamp act. These happened because his army was at a huge risk at losing the wa that he decided that it was okay to put taxes on the colonists so he did that. If you do not know why he wanted to win this very big war this is a very good place to get that information. The reason why he wanted to win this war is because so he could gain land which means back then that you are very powerful and that no one would want to fight your army because of how they were trained.

This war was about who will get the most land out of the red coats (lobster backs) were going agensed the Natives only because they were on Native land (which displeased them) So a war started and a twist was in it: A KING WAS IN A WAR!!!
I know this never happens but king George wanted to get the land for himself so he decided to be a war general and lead some of his troop into battle.

The only thing he loved the most   family, his wife,and him being royal.
