It’s not a bad thing to make jewelry, but those special, limited edition, ivory or turtle shell necklaces all came from animals. That “special” ivory came from an elephants tusks. They kill the animal, and get the part they need from it. When a piece of jewelry that comes from animals gets popular, there goes all those animals, all dead just for a piece of jewelry.

 

Clothing/Accessories

Clothing and accessories are also a part of animal endangerment. “Crocodiles, snakes, lizards, and frogs are harvested for their skins to be made into shoes, handbags, and other exotic leather products,” that is what the website Animal Welfare Institute (Link for more information) says about animals skins being made into clothing and accessories. For example, do you know the evil lady, Cruella, from 101 Dalmatians? Well, she always wears the furry coat. So, she is encouraging people wearing animal fur.

Medicine

Although medicine is very important for us, some medicines harm animals. For example, elephants ivory tusks are good for medicine. In China, rhino horns were supposed to relieve fevers and low blood pressure. Of course, they had to kill the animal to get what they needed.  

When people are building new roads or houses, there are lot of things happening in the wildlife. Habitat destruction is when habitats are being destroyed, and habitat reduction is when habitats are being reduced. For example, they are expanding the road for a street or building new houses in the middle of nowhere, animals have to find new homes. The animals may move to a place where there are not enough resources for all the animal in the new habitat, causing them to die.

Global Warming

Global warming is the Earth becoming warmer. This is causing many marine animals, animals that live in the water, to die. Some animals even became extinct because of global warming. People are causing global warming! Global warming is causing animals habitat to become warm, which makes them migrate. While migrating, they could die. 

Oil Spills

Oils spills are harmful to marine animals, and that live by the ocean. If a bird is trying to clean itself and there is an oil spill, it could die. The reason behind that is because oil is poisonous. About 25,900 animals have died because of oil spills.

Hunting

Some people will hunt animals for money. It’s a bad thing for animals. Also, in a way, it is bad for us to. Animals help us. For example, in China, when pandas eat bamboo, they are spreading seeds for more bamboo to grow. It is also illegal to kill some animals like elephants, rhinos, tigers, and sea turtles, but it's unbelievable that people still do it

Fur Trade 

Fur trade is trading fur. It is illegal in the United States, and other countries, but people still do it! Did you know that about 50 million animals die a year because of fur trades? In order to collect the fur, they would either taze the animal or skin them alive. Although this fur could look cool, it is still a threat for animals to become endangered. 

Black Market

Unfortunately, there is another thing people do illegally just to make money, involving animals like sea turtles. Black Market, an illegal market, or an illegal place to sell stuff! People sell turtle shells, turtle eggs, and turtle meat, illegally, just for money.
