A ruined economy, a leader who deserted and ran away at the face of defeat, and a ever so growing rise of fascism through certain political parties, one of these parties was the NSDAP, the Nazi party. And a man by the name of Adolf Hitler swiftly rose through the ranks, capitalizing on the angers many Germans felt due to their defeat in the war. The party targeted Jews and exhibited massive amounts of anti-Semitism and lies of a Aryan master race.  The effects of this led to many people viewing other races as lesser, eventually forcing many into extermination and concentration camps. Japan wasn't economically independent from the west due to their need for western trade such as good oil, silk, and more, the shortage of these weakened Japan's economy. It ultimately led to Japan becoming more individualized and seeking less and less reliance on the West.

Japan was able to take territories from Germany, this gave them the ability to industrialize and military with these new found resources.

In the soviet union, Joseph Stalin focused on developing heavy industry and collecting agriculture,  at the expense of a worsened consumer good production.

The goal was to industrialize the soviet union and ultimately transform a weak agricultural state into an industrial powerhouse. 
What were the outcomes?
The plan yielded in a 50% increase in industrial output, however this was at the heavy expense of natural resources and happiness.
