One character that changes the most during the novel is Tina Goldstein. When we meet Tina at the beginning of the book she fights and argues with Newt. She has a very prudish attitude and doesn't think about anything other than her job. However, by the end of the novel she befriends Newt and actually joins him on his adventure in New York City rather than arresting him as she should.

One minor character that plays a major importance in the novel is Gellert Grindelwald. As you may or may not know this novel takes place in the Harry Potter universe, Grindelwald is talked about multiple times in the original books and is known as an enemy of Dumbledore. This novel takes the steps it needs to set him up to be the villain of this new trilogy.

Above I gave the book a seven out of ten. I justify this rating because even though I enjoyed the novel it does suffer from some issues. The novel suffers most from trying to set up a cliffhanger in order to continue the story to the next book. I also didn't enjoy that the book doesn't go into very much detail at times.
