         <description><![CDATA[<p>For an introductory activity, I have students draw connections between their classmates using hexagons. Typically, they write facts about themselves, but Magic School's Crossing the Rigor Divide added the idea of adding categories (ex. beliefs, experiences, etc.). Also, you could have students justify their choices (moving to analysis instead of simply recall).</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong><em>Launch</em></strong> - Padlet - Allow students to answer the essential question for the unit. "How do we overcome obstacles?" </p><p><strong><em>Think and Talk</em></strong> - Create random groups; put other open ended questions which relate to the unit/first story/video on the wipe boards and allow the students a chance to answer each of them on the different boards.  </p><p><strong><em>Share out - </em></strong>Give each group a chance to share either their answer or another answer  which they thought best answered the question.</p><p><strong><em>Monitor -  </em></strong>Each group would be in  a different color, so you know they answered the questions.  They can also go back and type their individual answers on a document and you can monitor it using Classwize or Schoology.  </p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

Magic School AI presented the idea of creative synthesis through writing short stories, poems, news articles, or interviews using the vocabulary words.  Another idea is to have students create an “expert vocabulary podcast,” which is a particularly creative activity. </p>]]></description>
