I will Challenge and creating thought provoking experiences for teams.

Expressing a non-majority voice is hard when yours is the lone voice. But if I know it is right to voice that opinion, I should do so.

Really eye opening hearing about some of out BAME colleagues experience of COVID- I'd definitely been ignorant to some of these factors until know.

As an individual of white british ethnicity I think I am quite protected from many of these biases but was struck and really challenged by the experiences of colleagues and the COVID video. It has made me consider where I have unconscious biases and how they may have impacted upon my colleagues

I feel that these topics are so vital to discuss and that they have been anchored in a place where it relates to how we can practise EDI and inclusivity in the workplace

I find the statistics on differential attainment in my workplace deeply upsetting, and I view it as yet another example of the biases against minority groups, as highlighted by world affairs currently too.

System 1&2 thinking

This is a new concept to me; I like the idea of it as a metaphor. The concept that decision making bias is something we can train ourselves to have better control over is reassuring - if only we put the work in.

Proactive inclusion

As a white middle class British female, I was already aware of my inherent 'rank'. I work hard to treat people fairly and am approachable. I felt that I was therefore proactively not acting on unconscious bias. However, from watching the video today, I see that, in leadership especially, we need to go further than this. We need to be actively seeking understanding of situations where people may not feel able to speak out. And working to create a safe culture in which everyone has an equal voice.

I would like to practise questioning my assumptions about decisions - I like the idea of thinking of decisions as a product and questioning the production process, this process will involve assumptions and unconscious bias which will only be highlights and can be challenged with deliberate consideration.

I liked the concept of system 1 and 2 thinking, I had never thought about decisions being a product. It also highlighted the need to allow for dissent and difference of thinking.

I like the idea of questioning where facts and figures have come from, that is something I shall try to do more often.

I also found it interesting to think that this sort of training is often given to people who are already 'on board', and perhaps it's those people in our teams who are not interested who we need to involve the most. I would like to learn more about how to do this.

I think in some of the framing/examples indirect and direct discrimination/racism was being described and labelled as unconscious bias. I think it's important to call this out/make this distinction clear
