Every day seems to be here more incredible than the last one although you thought it could not be possible! Today on the sea, meeting the dolphins, snorkeling by the coral reefs, listening a lovely lesson about mangrove trees and enjoying the lovely meal together with a group of beautiful people made me think again what it is to relate with the nature and the other people and the Global Citizenship Themes. Today it was again wonderful to have a feeling of belonging to a group and it was l lovely to meet new people once again. The main theme of today for me was Sustainable Living. How to act in the harmony with the nature in such a way that there will be also pure nature left for our grandchildren and their children, too? We owe that to the future generations. That connects my thinking also to Taking Action. Every positive act counts and makes a difference even a small one! Thank you for an unforgettable day! And thank you Rita and Michel for empathy and help with finding my lost phone!

Is it possible to be amazed (at this age) day after day. I quess it is!!! Today we headed to the sea. At the beginning of the trip we had a very rare opportunity to see the dolphins. It was amazing😊 After that we approached a “desert island” and I was joking that Rita is going to drop us all to that beach and comes back in the evening. I was not quite wrong but instead of trying to cope like Robinson Crusoe we had an interesting snorklingtime and especially a marvellous lunch by Morgan. When Marie Laure had her wonderful presentation of the birds and Mangroveforest it occurred to me again that it is not only the words but the expressions and the non-verbal communication what is even more important than words.

Another interesting day in Guadeloupe. Ecology was always one of the most important things for me as a citizen of this planet. It hurts me when I see negative effects of human presence in the world. We have visited a “Robinson Crusoe” island Ilet caret. Just when you think you are in untouched paradise, you hear a sad story of this island. The eco system was working perfectly but humans interfering might just destroy this beautiful place.

What can we do to change things? Are we responsible for changes in someone else’s country or continent. I think that experiences we had for the last few days showed us how everything in the world is connected. Maybe we should listen to the words of Mother Teresa: “ We can do no great things – only small things with great love.”

We should take responsibility as global citizens and start doing changes one small step at a time.

Message of the day: Think globally, act locally!

Today our day started with boattrip and we were about to go to the Ile caret. During the boattrip we saw three dolphins swimming near our boat and we got the chance to admire them while.

Our todays classroom was Ile caret. We were about to go to the island but what kind of island. Small paradise in the middle of Caribbean Sea. You could walk around the island barefoot and feel the sea all over you. I saw first time in my life few yellow sand crabs, which had high speed when they run on the beach. I collected some small pieces of coral to take with me home. I was happy and felt as I was in wonderland that can’t be true. At the island we had own cook Morgan, who made us delicioius snack and lunch and we participants had the chance just enjoy and feel free.

That was more than I could imagine I would see on this course, but then there was something even more. We went for snorkeling to the boat which was wrecked during hurricane Hugo. That feeling when you have jump from the boat to sea and you are curios and frightened at the same time. The first time real snorkeling I felt like a Bambi on the ice. Amazing day, full of feelings!

Great day, again. I have thought every day, that I have already experienced such wonderful things, that more doesn’t fit on my head. Guadeloupe was today gorgeous even on the rain. So kind people everywhere. Boat trip to a new external learning environment was lovely: Dolphins followed us. On the way we joked about a small island, that was seen in front of us, Robinson Crusoe etc. However the boat stopped at the island, where we spend a great day. It was wonderful encourage snorkeling. We often forget, how our students are in front of new things every day. They need encourage and a positive atmosphere.

Mangroveforest was also a great experience. I have even written of this kind of forests to the environmental studies textbook, but now I saw it by myself.

Today: lots on new, wonderful nature, courage

Le nez de Cléopâtre, s'il eût été plus court, toute la face de la terre aurait changé. (If Cleopatra’s nose had been shorter, the whole world would have changed.)

This proverb by Blaise Pascal entered my mind when Rita told us about the history of the island of Ilet Caret: very small things can cause huge effects. One example is the erosion on Ilet Caret and can also be seen in the increasing ecological consciousness of the visitors of Ilet Caret. Each tourist who picks up a shard or a piece of waste from the beach can make a better world. Obviously lots of people have done so at this place.

It was so beautiful to see dolphins swim and jump around our bot on our voyage. I also really enjoyed listening to Marie-Laure’s talk about the eco system of the mangroves at the lagoon.

LES DAUPHINS !!! They were waiting for us in the sea today. Morgane and Jordan were also waiting to take care of us which they did in a very special way. Traditional Guadeloupe breakfast on the tiny island of Illet Caret as a start, snorkelling in the sea and having a very tasty barbecue were our highlights before we met Marie-Laure, the real Queen of the day. What a character! We were taken into the mangrove woods that she explained in such a colourful way that you needn’t know French to understand her. Her impressions of the birds, especially the male ones, were immensely funny and educational at the same time. The global village is on its way. Merci beaucoup, Marie-Laure.
