James Hilton (1900-1954)- was an English novelist who was born in England but spent his later life in America. He have several best-selling novels "Goodbye Mr Chips" and "Lost Horizon".
The main character Hugh Conway, gets stranded with three on desert island other people when their plane crash lands. "Conway never exactly remembered how he and the others arrived at the monastery, or how they were greeted and led into the grounds."(p.93)They are led to a beautiful monastery, Shangri-la, where where they find peace and happiness.  I think that. I think that Conway and his friends were very upset the fact that he was in this wonderful place, as later Conway lived in China for almost 10 years.
