I totally hated that teachers imposed me some books to read and as I did not want to read them, I created a feeling of disgust with lecture in general. Now that I could understand the 7 strategies proposed by Gambrell I can realize that freedom is one of the most important things at the moment of motivating our students. How can we foster reading habits by imposing books that our students do not want to read? Students tend to associate reading with a tedious activity since during their school years they haven’t received the appropriate approach to fully appreciate the value of this action.
