All the rocky planets in our solar system come from a dusty disk. They can tell us a lot about the early time of planets’ history. On Earth, with seafloor spreading and the plates tectonic, we can’t get as much pieces of information as on Mars, where the inside structure has maybe not changes and can tell us a lot more than Earth about the creation of our planets or solar system.

Also, recently, we have found evidence of a warmer planet which used to have water. This planet could possibly have hosted Earth-like life.

Mars is the closest planet to Earth, it could also explain why we are going on this planet.

The Insight has for mission to study the deep interior of the planet Mars. The lander uses cutting edge instruments, to seek the fingerprints of the processes that formed the terrestrial planets. It does so by measuring the planet's "vital signs": its "pulse" (seismology), "temperature" (heat flow), and "reflexes" (precision tracking).

The Insight principal mission is to give us pieces of pieces of information about Maes’ internal structure on a different aspect. The Insight lander has three main instruments:
-The heat probe called HP3 has been built by a German laboratory and is supposed to measure the temperature of the planet. It will go under the surface at almost 16 feet deep and analyse the heat flows in Mars.
-The "SEIS" is a seismometer that Insight will put on the planet surface to detect the vibrations like a doctor with a stethoscope. The goal of this instruments is to analyse the Mars‘ internal activity and more precisely if there are marsquakes or if meteorites hit the red planet. It’s a French Earth physics team who developed SEIS.
- Rotation and Interior Structure Experiment or RISE is supposed to give us information about the size and the composition of Mars’ core. For that mission, Insight sends a signal to Earth so we can see where is Insight at any time. This gives us pieces of information about Mars’ North pole wobble which allow us to know better the core of the planet. For example, scientists want to know if it is liquid or solid.
