In the mid 1800’s, Women had little to no rights at all. They couldn’t talk about slavery, they couldn’t vote or hold office, any property if theirs became their husbands. Women were furious about this because they wanted to feel equal and have the same rights as men. So, there was a convention held in New York. People of this convention gave a proposal for women’s rights and the Declaration of Sentiments. The Seneca Falls was a convention that demanded equality for women so they can have jobs, school, church, etc. This was the start of giving rights to women and giving equality to all.
"Women’s movement." Britannica School, Encyclopædia Britannica, 6 Feb. 2018. school.eb.com/levels/middle/article/womens-movement/314254.

A Boston teacher named Dorothea Dix worked at a Sunday school jail. As she was working, she was confused and overwhelmed by the conditions she saw happening in the jail and how they were getting treated. Things such as little food, children with adults and crowding in dark damp cells. This was all because inmates couldn’t pay a little debt. What was the most surprising was that the mentally ill people where locked up and got beaten up because of their “insane” behavior. Because of this, Dix sent a report to the state legislature about the conditions. Later on, they decided to make mental hospitals for the mentally ill and got the help they needed.
https://bit.ly/2pHpwNj
Video: https://binged.it/2Gc8hed
