It´s very important to look after the similar things people have and not to the differences. And we have to find a way of understanding - there is no need to look at results because results can be / are always different for people. Communication is always a process of decoding in both directions.
Culture is always changing - we are always changing...
"Culture is like a punch..."

Today we've been on an island. Somehow I feel, since yesterday when we've been to the museum, that I'm on my own island too at the moment.

#speechless

A really new experience for me: Not to have the pressure or to be in the mood to talk! I still love to talk and I do talk, but I talk less just to keep on talking. I want to be more sensitive about how I express myself. Among other things because of the fact that I never know how the words that I'm sending will be decoded.

Words have incredible power and can be the start of a huge change. We should handle careful with them.

"This is our classroom for today!"

Multiculturalism is everywhere, we must take time to see it, understand it and unveil it to and with our students. In order to do that, we must have open minds and avoid any kind of superiority and self centered atitudes. Most learning can be done about and with things we usually either ignore or take for granted.

Multiculturalism does not mean we are different. It means we have all something in common. We are human beings that all have similarities. The main target of education should be to teach pupils to become an conscious global citizen, who can live, communicate and develop where ever he likes in equality and liberty.

What I liked today was the exercise about the name.
To give it a sound, a smell, a number, a colour and an individual translation. It can make pupils reflect on their own individual self.
Quote
Get rid of your subconscious racial discrimination

Rita told us a story, that in a european group one prepares the drinks for all and by the locals it is not so. I thought this is inpolite and unsusual in this part of the world. When i was lying in bed on friday, i tried to read a little bit and there was the explenation:
Chacun prepare sa propre mort.
And of course: i forgot to make a picture...

Today, we traveled to a small island off the coast of Guadeloupe. We spoke of multiculturalism because globalization is bringing more cultures together in one place.

A good example for this is one of the classes I teach: There are students from Italy, Tunisia, Turkey, Greece, India and Germany - a real melting pot of many different cultures. In this context, it is important to know and respect the differences - but it is also vital that there are many things we all have in common.

Your own culture means home. Knowing where your home is gives you a starting point from which you can embrace the big wide world.
