Today, we completed filming the remaining scenes, capturing each segment of our film and arranging the scene shot for each segment. I attended a costume fitting session with the costume department to ensure that my nurse role's attire was both available and fitting. Additionally, I coordinated with the costume department to confirm the availability of costumes required for the other actors.

This week, we convened for a production meeting to outline our plans. As a cohesive team, including our director, we delved into script discussions. Each participant was encouraged to share their ideas, which would then undergo review by the producers and directors for potential script revisions. Additionally, all actors were invited to audition for their designated roles or any roles they desired. Leveraging the knowledge acquired from my Acting for TV module, I auditioned for the roles of nurse and Grace. Utilizing self-recording techniques, I produced a professional-quality self-tape, akin to a job application in the industry. The tape featured clear vocals and a clean background, and I promptly submitted it via WeTransfer for review by the director and producer.

We also discussed our respective roles within the production, ensuring clarity on our responsibilities to contribute to the success of our film titled "Snapshot".

week two : Filming date, possible location and actors

This week, as actors, we were assigned our roles and characters for the upcoming production. I was given the role of the Nurse. Additionally, we finalized the start date for filming and scheduled the shooting days for each scene. During our discussions, we addressed potential props, necessary documentation, and set design elements including lighting, sounds and location required for our short film. Furthermore, transportation logistics were considered, and myself, along with other students including Vedad, volunteered to utilize our cars to transport equipment and crew members to the filming location. This proactive measure was taken to facilitate smooth filming and prevent any potential damage to the equipment.

Additionally, adopting a natural hairstyle with my hair securely tied up reflects the standard practice of nurses to prevent infection and contamination, aligning with medical protocols regarding bodily fluids.

Things I Find Challenging During The Production Of Our Shot film "Snapshot"

On the second day of filming at Bolton Town Hall, parking proved to be quite challenging. I ended up paying £8 for parking just for that day. However, we eventually found another parking space that only cost £3 and another £4 for the entire day. It was frustrating for myself and other crew members, especially considering that there were free parking options available nearby.

Furthermore, unexpected changes to the script, grammatical errors in the lines, and the addition or removal of lines extended our shooting time by a few minutes. This required actors to quickly adapt to the alterations, which added to the complexity of the filming process.

Moreover, some members of the crew either didn't show up or arrived late, putting additional workload on those who were present and slowing down the entire crew. The light department also faced challenges, with equipment misplaced and a lack of willingness to search for it, leaving other team members to locate alternatives. These delays consequently affected the timing of certain shooting scenes.

As the production coordinator, I've been diligently overseeing all operations on set, ensuring seamless functioning throughout. Collaborating closely with the continuity team, I've upheld precision in maintaining accurate continuity. Additionally, I've ensured the availability of all necessary equipment by facilitating its transportation to and from the filming location, guaranteeing a smooth workflow. Beyond equipment management, I've taken responsibility for restoring filming locations to their original condition post-shoot, ensuring cleanliness and organization without any damage incurred. Moreover, I've actively engaged in coordinating with the continuity department to ensure all paperwork is meticulously completed. Working harmoniously within a team dynamic, I've adhered to directives from producers and directors, prioritizing punctuality as a cornerstone of our collective success in bringing our short film to fruition.

Day Four & Five Of Filming

On this days, I assumed the responsibility of script supervisor from Lilly. My duties involve overseeing actors as they deliver their lines, ensuring alignment with the script's content. By assuming this role, Lilly is now able to focus on other tasks, streamlining our filming process. Concurrently, I continue to fulfil my role as a production coordinator, ensuring on-set organization and providing support to maintain continuity and assist other departments for the seamless execution of our production.

Day Three Of Filming

Today, I seamlessly transitioned between my roles as an actor and a production coordinator.

Portraying the character of a nurse was both enjoyable and enlightening, bolstering my confidence as an actor. This valuable experience will undoubtedly shape my future endeavours, and I plan to include excerpts from this scene in my showreel.

Our filming commenced promptly at 10 am, with everyone on set by 9 am to set up equipment and prepare for the day ahead. Prior to filming, I rehearsed lines with my scene partner to foster a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

After completing my scene as an actor, I assisted other members of the crew in preparing the next filming location. Throughout the day, I also aided in packing and organizing all equipment back into the car, ensuring that each filming location was left clean and returned to its original state.

While I would have liked to provide a more extensive video and photo documentation of the day, the limitations of Padlet prevented me from uploading larger files, hence the inclusion of a brief video.
