         <description><![CDATA[<p>For most children starting Reception in September we will be introducing Read Write Inc.  </p><p><br></p><p>Above is a link to a parent guide.  This has videos about how you can support your child on their Read Write Inc journey.</p><p><br></p><p>For the children who will be staying in nursery in September we will continue to develop their phonological awareness skills.  This will involve activities that support their abilaity to listen and distingusih between different sounds, recognising syllables in words, continuning a rhyming string for example.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Fred Games</p><p>Speaking like Fred helps children to understand that words are made up of sounds.</p><p>In nursery, we use Fred Talk in games and throughout the day to help children practise blending sounds together.</p><p> </p><p>Parents/Carers, please note -</p><p>When playing the Fred talk games, if your child is not yet able to blend the sounds to make the whole word, please don't worry, it is something that just needs practise, keep going.  </p><p>Help them by modelling the blending of sounds to make whole words, this will be great for their development. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Poetry is a vehicle for adopting new vocabulary in a fun and accessible way.  It is so important for children’s Communication and Language development, which is part of the statutory EYFS framework. </p><p>Children begin to use a wider variety of vocabulary as they connect with words simply and deeply through the rhythm of a poem. </p><p>We create actions to reinforce the language and its meanings, making it is easy for the children to absorb these new words so effortlessly.</p><p><br></p><p>The poems we will be learning:</p><p>Week 1 - Review poems / Rhymes for Class Assembly</p><p>Week 2 - Creepy Crawlies</p><p>Week 3 - A Little Shell</p><p>Week 4 - Bees</p><p>Week 5 - A Little Seed</p><p>Week 6 - Rabbits</p><p>Week 7 - Review rhymes learnt this half-term</p><p><br></p><p>If you click on the  picture at the top of this post you will be able to see the words to the different poems.</p>]]></description>

This activity helps to strengthen  fine motor muscles to enable your child to develop their pencil grip which in turn will help to develop their writing skills.          <title>Visits to new classrooms</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In July we will take the children, in small groups, with a familiar adult, to spend time in their new learning environments.</p><p>This will probably be for around 30 minutes each time and we will show them where they hang their coats and where to find the toilets.</p><p>The Nursery children are aware of the  Reception learning environments as we walk through them to the lunch hall everyday.</p><p>We hope by doing this they will be excited for the next step in their learning journey and for them to feel comfortable and aware of where they will be going in September. </p>]]></description>
