When the teacher knows each student, (knowing their background, their knowledge in the subject, and how they see themselves) it would help bridge the gap of misrecognition. It is important for art educators to listen to their students, and adjust the curriculum that is the most suitable for all the students.
Chris failed to recognize the students ability and failed to connect with them as a teacher. This not only effects the way the students think of art teachers, but also it would effect on how they think of art. Although he did come to understand and become more aware of his faults, he did not put enough effort to enact equity into the issue. There are several ways for teachers to bridge this gap between students and educators. One example could be firstly, educating yourself of the different socio-economic background of your students and discussing it with them either individually or in small groups.
