South Africa was colonised by specially the british people. The first british travellers came to South Africa with the purpose of trading, in 1797. 
The Union of South Africa, established in 1910, as a self-governing state within the British Empire and they are now a country by its own people.
Apartheid was a political and social system in South Africa while it was under some rules. 
This was used in the 20th century, from 1948 to the early 1990s.
