<title>The teacher started the lesson counting the kids round the table. So, she got the attention of the group and say hello to everyone. Now she asked, &quot;have you got a pet?&quot; I have a dog and shows a picture of herself and the dog. Then she asked individually have you got a dog? have you got a cat? After these oral interaction she proposed a funny activity. She painted their faces with an animal design. And she asked a &quot;cat&quot; or a &quot;dog&quot;? She helped the learners who didn´t get the question producing the animal sound too like &quot;woof woof&quot;. While she was painting the kids´ faces one by one some kids get distracted and run in circles round the table. The teacher controled them counting &quot;one, two, three&quot; and everybody sits. Next, the teacher gave out a sheet to every child with printed animals and asks &quot;the elephant is a pet?&quot; no! &quot;the lion is a pet?&quot; no! The cat, the dog and the fish are pets, pointing the animals in the sheet. Most of the kids are excited to paint the drawings and the teacher shows them the fybers asking their colour. What colour is it? yellow! And now she told them how to paint the animals. She gave the instruction, &quot; The cat is yellow and orange&quot;, &quot; The dog is brown and black&quot; and &quot;the fish is pink, purple and blue&quot;. She repeated the colours as many times as necessary. Every kid painted the animals images enthusiastically although some of them didn´t finish. The P.E. teacher came in the classroom and ask the children to go with her to the next class. There was no specific way for closing the lesson just sayin bye bye! This was the last observation and I would say that they were very useful for introducing me in the practicum. I´ll design the lessons according to the dynamic of this group. They are very curious and lively. They love participating in class and mostly they get on well with each other. They love playing games although they are very competitive. I´ve enjoyed this experience as an observer, next class I´ll start interacting with the kids in my first assistanship!</title>

<title>All the children sat in their places side by side around one rectangle table. They welcome me kindly saying &quot;hello&quot;. The teacher greeted them asking &quot;how are you today?&quot; &quot; Are you OK?&quot; showing thumbs ups or &quot;are you sad?&quot; she asked showing thumbs down. Later on the teacher standing in front of the whole class showed the kids big and coloured flashcards with animals. All the kids were enthusiatic watching the big figures. The first one was a Penguin, she asked what`s this? It`s a penguin! and the kids repeated. What colour is it? and some of the kids answered &quot;black&quot; and &quot;white&quot;. She continued with the elephant asking &quot;is the elephant big or small?&quot; making gestures with her hands. And some of the kids answered &quot;big&quot;!. Then she continued with the marine turtle asking &quot;can the turtle fly?&quot; with hands gestures. And the kids answered &quot;no!&quot; &quot;can it swim&quot;? &quot;yes!&quot;. The teacher moved on with 5 more animals and she linked the new vocabulary with action verbs, adjectives like lon and short and colours. This activity was effective, she could get the attention of the children and they participated actively. In the following part of the lesson the teacher play a video showing a song &quot;I have a pet&quot;. Later on she asked the kids if they had a pet. &quot;have you got a pet?&quot; And then asking the question &quot;have you got a dog?&quot; she paused the video on the image of the animal and also showed them a flashcard used in the previous class. The kids answered &quot;yes&quot; or &quot;no&quot;. There was no specific way to close the lesson.</title>

<title>Teacher: Emilia Group: 11 children aged 5 years old. Topic: Animals All the children sat in their places side by side around one rectangle table. The teacher introduced me as an observer. And we say hello. She explains to the kids I was going to be in the classroom just watching how they learnt English. I took a seat at the back of the classroom and I was like a “ghost” during the whole lesson.Emilia started the class delivering a flash-card to each kid with a printed animal on it. She didn`t spend time saying hello to each one. The kids were excited naming the animals they had in Spanish. They were noisily exchanging the names. So, the teacher started singing a song “Flying, flying butterfly… and ended saying a “clip in your lips” and everyone was silence. This strategy was very effective to start the activity. She asked to the kids “are these toys?” “Are these boys”? “Are these girls”? No, they are ANIMALS! She asked one by one what animal they had. “Is it a dog?”, What is it? It`s a crocodile! She continued with everyone naming all the animals for about ten minutes. In the next part of the lesson she proposed playing a game the “Animal`s Bingo” and she delivered to each kid a cardboard flashcard and 9 chips of different colours to each one. They counted say the colour in English. Are you ready? She asked and the game began. After naming the animal the teacher mimics its sound or its movement such as for the monkey or a bird. Here the children showed themselves mostly competitive they wanted to win! The teacher told them repeatedly that the game was only for fun! They enjoyed the game and repeated the names of the animals enthusiastically. It was an effective activity to introduce them in the topic. There was no specific way to close the lesson. </title>

<title>During the assistanships I started interacting with the group. I offered my help to the teacher distributing the sheet for the activities, helping the kids to paste their images, repeating after the teacher the proposed vocabulary and helping the kids to elicit the answers if they needed help. The teacher continued working with animals asking the children to identify which could live inside houses as pets. And in the second class she worked with sea animals focusing on actions. She asked questions such as &quot;can a fish fly?&quot; and I helped her with gestures and body language. She showed the kids a video and after it I helped her to ask the children to repeat the names of the sea animals! These two lessons were very useful to approach to the learners to know their way and to let them gain confidence with me. At the end of the lesson I met them in the playground and they let me to take their picture ☺ </title>

<title>I delivered my first lesson last Wednesday. Before starting their clasroom teacher explained in detail why I was going to be their teacher for 5 classes. It was a bit hard to keep them engaged in the lesson all the time but on the whole I felt satysfied. I began the lesson speaking in English and they seemed surprised and they didn´t demonstrate feeling uncomfortable with that. They were mostly active and it seems they enjoyed the storytelling. I chose to read it to them instead of playing a video the first class to have a better approach to them.In general I had a good feedback from the group. I could get the answers I expected and they participated actively in the proposed activities. Besides my anxiety I felt I could deliver the lesson! Although I think the group is not confident with my presence and it is hard for them to recognise my authority in the classroom. From this practicum I learnt I have to prepare longer activities because the kids are too fast and it is necessary to keep them busy. Another important thing is to take all the materials to do the activities including glue and extra sheets in case they get lost or spoiled. I also realised that I made a few speaking mistakes because I didn´t focus my attention in the quality of the speech. I´ll try to improve that... </title>

<title>The second lesson was better than the first one. I could in general deliver the lesson. Although it is hard to call their attention using only L2 but with examples and a lot of gestures and onomatopeic sounds I could make them understand the instructions. There were two kids that didn`t follow the activity at the beggining but they joined in later on. This time I used a video as a resource to reinforce the storytelling of the first class and in general they liked it and enjoyed the song. Some of them named the animals directly in English when paused the video showing an image. They were surprised seeing the flashcards identical to the images in the video I tried to communicate in English as much as I could. During this lesson I felt that they were more interactive and participated more enthusiastically. There was one situation when I changed activities they got messy and three of them left the room to go to their teacher. I had to pause the video and call them back to the class. Above all the children completed the activities but we didn`t have time for the last one. They loved &quot;sending&quot; the letter to the Zoo using the &quot;mailbox&quot;. And they are not used to close the lesson in a regular way so it was hard to make them join to the closure song. I just said goodbye and some of them answered back before going to their P.E class. Here is the link to the video</title>

<title>Today October 3rd I delivered my fourth lesson. I feel the group has adapted to my presence in their room and they showed themselves more engaged with the English class. And they recognised the routine to start the class and the closure with the video song. This time one of the most active kids was a little sad and he didn´t feel very well, after the storytelling he asked me to go to his regular teacher and I let him leave the room. I introduced a new topic: Food. They were happy listening to the new vocabulary. I felt they followed my instructions in a better way and they interact lively when I asked them to repeat the new vocabulary. They talked in L1 about the caterpillar becoming into a butterfly and they loved the flashcards! I realised it is much better not to stop between activities. The faster I gave them the new instructions and materials the better they respond. From this class I learnt that it might be a good idea to play a song while they are working on their sheets because some girls were singing a Spanish song while working on their task. I let them know that the following lesson is my last one! I´ll leave the link to the video when it finishes uploading.</title>

<title>On October the 1st I could deliver my third practicum lesson. It was the last one in reference to the topic &quot;animals&quot;. The greetings at the beggining was better, they sang with me and got ready for the activities. I showed them the story again in the printed sheets and they remembered every animal of the Zoo story!. Then we continued and they have never done a listening activity with a recording so they were really engaged and. I draw an ear on the sheet so they immediatly understood they were going to listen something. And then when the first animal sound was played they got the instruction very easily. After this we worked on the table with the adjectives used in the story. And we sort together each animal with the corresponding adjective we worked only in oral way. Lastly I took the mailbox and they remebered what animal each one had asked for. I´d only prepared uncoloured elephants with magnet on the back for them to paint. They enjoyed a lot painting with brushes each elephant. This time I closed the lesson with a goodbye video and I think they liked it.</title>

<title>My last practicum lesson was fine. The teacher and the children made me a beautiful farewell card. I stared the lesson with the routine singing the greeting song and introducing the class with the food flashcards and the caterpillar books from the previous class. They started colouring the food they´d pasted and we review the food vocabulary. Then I show them some fruits and we sorted together &quot;fruits and non-fruits&quot;. They did the proposed activity while I was assesing each one to classify the food. The last proposed activity was painting a handcraft imitating a caterpillar the kids were all enthusiastically except one of them which was not focused on any of the activities. He wanted to go outside and he asked me to go with his regular classroom teacher. Before starting this last activity I played them a video with a caterpillar´s song and they seemed to like hearing it while working. I closed the lesson with the bye bye video and song and with a little handmade cupcake I took for them. They loved this! On the whole I feel the children could benefit from this five lessons and they started interacting with me in a more active way from the 3rd class on. Personally I´m satysfied with this experience ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺</title>
