In the poem "O Me! Oh Life!" (Walt Whitman), the author talks about how modernization in the new world has come to construct monstrosity for humankind and the welfare of society. In this poem, I was struck by how the author interprets society as faithless and foolish for what had been created, as it is true. As Whitman had advised us in the end, it made me feel empathetic in a way to know that we still have a chance of living a life with meaning and purpose.
