When he was young his parents moved to Florence, this is where he grew up. When Michelangelo was 6 years old his mother died. He grew up in the Italian Renaissance which was perfect for him because he always wanted to paint. Michelangelo’s father wanted him to go to school but he had little interest in it. Michelangelo appreciated  the sculptor Bertoldo di Giovanni. A few years later Michelangelo got to work with some of the finest artists at the time. A few years later he would move on to make so his own sculptures including Madonna of the Steps,Battle of the Centaurs, and Bacchus. 

        In 1496 Michelangelo moved to Rome. A year later he received an invitation to make a sculpture called the Pieta. This sculpture moved on to be one of the best sculptures in the Renaissance. The sculpture called Pieta shows Jesus after he was crucified lying on lap of his mother Mary. Michelangelo then moved back to Florence and received another invitation to create the large statue called David. It took him a couple of year to make this sculpture but it was worth it because it went to being one of his most popular pieces of work. Many years later he died in 1564 because he was old.
