As cultivation theory states, "The more time people spend 'living' in the television world, the more likely they are to believe social reality aligns with reality portrayed on television." Which means if people are listening to the news and believe in the fake news their view of the world is changed, and most likely for the worst.

1. When reading an article or watching the news and you see a story that might seem fake look for other reports on the same subject and see what both sides of the story is. The truth is somewhere there in the middle.

2. When you see someone posting fake news on social media kindly and gently correct them and give them some facts/sources as to why they are spreading fake news. This helps prevent others in believing the fake news.

3. Finally don't believe everything you are told. That is if you are following rule 1 and thing something might seem wrong with what someone is saying/what you are reading seems wrong.
