The first is relevance. I thought that teaching the fifth graders (students who paid attention and could grasp the concept) about a serious issue like global warming and explaining how it happens was great! The older they get, the more freedom and responsibility they earn, so they can actually pay attention to their choices. It was great to help them learn about such an important topic that is actually happening in modern times. Another reason why I liked my topic is because of how much we could teach. Since we already know all about carbon, the carbon cycle, the greenhouse effect, global warming and carbon footprints (another one of my reasons to like this topic), we had loads of sources, notes, materials and out own brains that we could use to help the students learn about the topic. We were able to show them clips from the Lorax, draw the Greenhouse Effect and even allow them to discover their OWN carbon footprint to really absorb the knowledge. Overall, I had a great time presenting and I am sad it's over, but it's a relief of pressure as well.
