Today, we have worked based on our own schools and practices. We have examined what we already do and what activities our school has in relation to international work. We have been given a task and are to present this on Monday. We have worked on and considered the following:

Activities: Identify the existing teaching activities that integrate international perspectives into the school curriculum. This may include projects, subjects, or topics that promote global understanding among students.

Cross-curricular Activities: Consider how to establish connections between different subject areas and integrate international elements across the entire curriculum. This can enhance students' cohesive understanding of globally related subjects.

Assemblies: Evaluate how international topics and cultures are integrated into the school's assemblies or meetings. This can include presentations, speeches, or cultural performances that foster global awareness among students.

Visits Overseas and Around Your Home Country: Look at existing programs or opportunities for students to visit abroad or in different parts of your home country. This may include exchange programs or field trips that broaden students' horizons.

Exchanges: Consider existing exchange programs where students from your school interact and collaborate with students from other countries. This can promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

Principal, Teacher, and Non-Teacher Visits/Visitors: Review visits from or to the school's leadership, teachers, and other visitors. This may include professional exchanges or international guests contributing to the school's international dimension.

Exchanges (Educators): Investigate how teachers from your school can participate in exchange programs with colleagues from other countries. This can contribute to sharing best practices and strengthening teachers' international perspectives.

Links with Schools Overseas: Assess existing connections and partnerships with schools in other countries. This may include collaborative projects or virtual exchanges connecting students across borders.

Links with Other Schools in Your Home Country: Look at collaborations or partnerships with schools within your home country that promote cultural exchange and cooperation.

Other Details: Take into account any additional initiatives or information that doesn't fit into the previous categories but still contributes to the school's international engagement.

At Feldballe Friskole, I take pride in the close collaboration we have with our dedicated and engaged teaching staff, enabling the future implementation of international elements in our daily practices.

In our academic instruction, we strive to integrate new international perspectives to enhance students' learning experiences. This is particularly crucial for this course. Together with our teachers, Trine and I explore methods to incorporate literature from other cultures, delve into studies of global societal issues, and integrate international examples and case studies within our teaching methods, especially in Project-Based Learning (PBL).

Interdisciplinarity is a key area where we work with the teachers to create PBL projects that cross disciplinary boundaries and aim to bring international aspects into both teaching and projects. This collaboration is essential to ensure that students not only acquire in-depth knowledge but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a global perspective.

Lectures and gatherings constitute a significant part of our efforts to create an international atmosphere at the school, which is also integrated into PBL projects and the authentic audience we seek to involve. In close collaboration with teachers, we plan events that feature influential guest speakers, providing our students with a unique opportunity to gain insights into different cultures and perspectives.

Travel and exchange programs are exciting opportunities we are exploring with the teachers. We are currently developing our exchange programs and study trips to provide students with practical experience in cultural exchange and the application of their language skills in a global context. Our newly acquired Erasmus+ accreditation is a significant lever for realizing development across all layers of the organization.

Our staff is more than just employees; we form a cohesive group that actively participates in international conferences and workshops to bring back new knowledge and inspiration to our school. This collaboration ensures that our teaching remains dynamic and relevant in an increasingly globalized world. Kristina recently attended a workshop in Seville to learn about eTwinning.

We are well on our way to achieving our goals.

Thomas

For around 13 years, our school has been developing internationalization. This has been worked through the various Erasmus projects, whether KA1 or KA2, the accreditation since 2021, the various study visits abroad with students, exchanges between students, eTwinning projects starting from pre-school education, hosting trainee teachers from European countries and teachers in shadowing activities. At a curriculum level, the school has taught foreign languages since the first year of primary school. It has also implemented cross-border projects.

In several subjects, care is taken to have a global contextualization of some content, especially with regard to languages, geography, history, arts, music, sciences and philosophy.

We are also an European Parliament Ambassador School.

As for international work done in our school, we’ve been working really hard to make the school as international as possible. This has been including a wide range of activities, from teacher training with Socrates, Língua B, to the Llifelong Learning projects, with Comenius, and later with Erasmus+ KA1 and KA2 and etwinning. We also got accredited in School Education in 2021. To this list, we include study visits abroad and European Parliament Ambassador School. There have been many the teachers and students that have contacted with their peers from all over Europe and other countries in the world, being it for training (courses and job shadowing), invited experts or teaching assignments, or school exchanges, there was always the feeling that the school walls aren’t enough for learning and for preparing students for future life and work. We strongly believe that our community should contact as much as possible with other cultures, peoples and realities to create an European dimension and develop international learning as well as the intercultural competence that is so needed and so important nowadays. Contacting with other peoples also increases several skills and helps young people to be tolerant and respect the differences.
